TODAY’S WE LOVE AUSTRALIA WEEK

• Monday, May 30 – Noosa, Qld
• Tuesday, May 31 – Rockhampton, Qld
• Wednesday, June 1 – Airlie Beach, Qld
• Thursday, June 2 – The Hunter Valley, NSW
• Friday, June 3 – Hahndorf, SA

Australia’s favourite breakfast program is hitting the road again, exploring the best of what our amazing country has to offer, in another fun-filled WE LOVE AUSTRALIA adventure week starting on the TODAY show on Monday, May 30.

Broadcasting LIVE on the Nine Network, Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson, together with Richard Wilkins, Sylvia Jeffreys, Tim Gilbert and Ross Greenwood, will travel the nation to bring viewers a taste of some of the remarkable regions that have made our country the envy of the world.

The team will check out the exquisite coastal regions of Queensland, starting in Noosa, before making the journey northwards to Rockhampton and on to Airlie Beach.

They will then venture south to the world-renowned wine region of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, before capping off their travels with South Australia’s German community at Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills.

In a series of special reports, Steve Jacobs will criss-cross the country on a mission to find the best places to entertain the kids without breaking the bank. Just in time for the school holidays, he’ll report from the Sydney Maritime Museum, the Collingwood Children’s Farm, the Holden State of Origin Kids’ Challenge in Sydney, the Aranyani Bison Adventure Tourist Park in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, and the spectacular Butterfly House in Coffs Harbour.

The streets of Logan in South-East Queensland will be abuzz with ecstatic locals when Dami Im returns to her hometown following her incredible performance at Eurovision. Richard Wilkins will be centre stage at Dami’s old school, John Paul College, for an extraordinary homecoming concert by the star singer.

During the week-long travel adventure, viewers will meet ordinary Australians with extraordinary stories to tell from the breathtaking places they call home. There will be plenty of famous faces joining the team along the way. Plus, be sure to tune in for the highly anticipated return of the hugely popular Dickie’s Double Dip.

Co-host Karl Stefanovic said: “These We Love Australia trips are the best part about my job. Where else would you get to visit five different towns across our amazing country in a week, enjoying all the local hospitality along the way?”

Co-host Lisa Wilkinson said: “We love getting the Today team together and heading out to explore all the great destinations Australia has to offer. But this particular We Love Australia week is going to be hard to beat, with three days in the stunning Queensland warmth and two days in Aussie wine country. Karl and I still aren’t sure why the boss said yes to this, but the tickets are booked and we can’t wait.”

Probably their most bias tour yet. Notice how they strategically are in QLD 60% of the week.

Monday (23.05.16)- Tuesday (24.05.16): Natalia Cooper is presenting the weather.

Today Queensland reporter Aislin Kriukelis has announced her first pregnancy. On that note, Lara Vella will be reporting for Today (in place of the MIA Chris Urquhart) before starting her new role as the anchor of the Early News mid-June.

Today flogs Sunrise by their third largest difference figure this year, in yesterday’s ratings.

The Courier-Mail reports that Nine demanded the concert to be exclusive to Today only, forcing the Logan City Council to withdraw invitations to local TV stations and papers, which include The Reporter and Albert & Logan News. Since when Nine began interested in Dami after she was discovered by a Seven show? I hope Sony can organise Dami to do interviews for local media after the concert.

FYI the homecoming was promised to Nine as an exclusive. They then turned around and invited everyone.

We Love Australia Tour (30.05.16-03.06.16)

Monday- With the entire team in Noosa, usurpingly Sunrise won the brekkie battle.
Tuesday- Tim Gilbert and Ross Greenwood were back at TCN presenting sport and backup presenter/finance respectively. Sylvia, Karl and Lisa were in Rockhampton while Richard Wilkins was in Logan for the Dami Im concert. However, Sunrise won the ratings for the second day this week.
Wednesday- The entire team were in Airlie with Ross Greenwood in studio. Sunrise and Today tied.
Thursday- Sylvia, Karl, Lisa, Dickie and Ross were doing the OB in the Hunter Valley with Tim Gilbert back in studio.
Friday- The entire team were in SA for the final day of the WLA Tour.

As it turned out, local papers Albert & Logan News and The Reporter were allowed inside the John Paul College grounds to cover the Dami Im concert and speak to the singer and Logan Mayor.

Not to mention Sunrise interviewing her after she performed.

Always love a good ratings story (what it is accurate )

We like you better when you stay home: Today on tour just doesn’t rate

Today has suffered two uncharacteristic early-week losses and a draw with rival show Sunrise in five-city ratings this week.

It seems breakfast TV viewers want their hosts doing their jobs in the studio, not hamming it up on holidays.

…the show’s ‘We Love Australia’ tour — a week-long road trip of areas including the Sunshine Coast, regional NSW and Tasmania, so far hasn’t resonated as much as Today has of late.

Thanks for the article. I think viewers don’t mind either Today or Sunrise in particular getting out and about but the week-long ‘holiday’ really annoys me and by the looks everyone else.

Natalia Cooper is on holidays this weekend.

Chris Urquhart has updated his twitter and it does say contributor to @thetodayshow,so it seems he will be making appearances occasionally.

Good to see Today are listening and have updated their backdrop of the soft set:

looks nice, shame it’s not a proper image tho,

That backdrop does look much better, but the coffee table is too big and doesn’t match the chairs. A smaller one would be better and a rug of some sort to soften the overall look would go a long way.
