By becoming a member of the Media Spy forums, you undertake to adhere to the rules as specified here. We reserve the right to make modifications to these rules at any time.
Messages posted to our forums are the responsibility of the members who post them. Media Spy takes no responsibility for the validity or accuracy of comments made. It should not be assumed that the opinions expressed by any member reflect the opinions of Media Spy. Nevertheless, Media Spy does actively monitor and moderate its forums with the sole intention of promoting an environment that is conducive to intelligent debate, discussion and analysis.
You agree, through your participation at Media Spy, that you will not use this site to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person’s privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
Media Spy does not tolerate harassment of fellow members. Media Spy will, wherever possible, discourage harassment of members, but under no circumstances will Media Spy be held responsible for such behaviour.
While Media Spy endeavours to be a family friendly site, Media Spy does recommend that all members and visitors to our forums under the age of 18 are supervised by an adult. While we will not knowingly endanger any minor, or allow them to endanger themselves through this site, Media Spy cannot be responsible for communications entered into between members through the forum’s personal message (PM) system or off-site.
Members are free to express views on any media related subject including, but not limited to,well-reasoned support for a particular programme or network. However, posts (or parts thereof) which offer no form of meaningful insight or analysis - including unnecessary advertising for programmes or networks - may be removed.
Members are limited to one account each. Secondary or additional accounts may be removed or merged.
Name calling or any other form of personal abuse, including attempts to provoke another member to react in such a way, will not be tolerated. This conduct is prohibited not only in the public forums, but also through the PM system. If such behaviour persists, disciplinary action against individual members will be considered, which may result in posting privileges being limited or suspended.
Media Spy does not seek to censor any posters’ opinions. Nevertheless, Media Spy will not tolerate inappropriate ways of expressing such opinions. Specifically, rude, uncivil and offensive posts may be edited or removed at the discretion of Media Spy’s moderators.
From time to time, Media Spy’s moderators will make decisions not covered by the above rules. Any member can have their posts put into a moderation queue, be suspended or have posting privileges withdrawn at any time, if the management team decides such restrictions are warranted.
Unless otherwise permitted, such as through open discussions initiated by moderators in the About Media Spy forum, any grievances with specific decisions of the moderating team should not be aired publicly, but instead be submitted privately, via either PM or e-mail. Decisions taken by Media Spy’s moderators are final, and any instructions that are given to members are to be complied with.
Any member who contributes, supports or promotes in any way personal attacks on Media Spy staff and members, whether those attacks be internal or external, will have their account terminated.
Videos and images embedded in posts should be hosted by the user with their own webspace, or on a public site such as YouTube, Photobucket, or Flickr. Media Spy does not allow users to ‘hotlink’ files from other websites without prior permission of the owner; such items will be altered or removed from posts.
