Nine Network - Programs and Schedules

I think that was the year Nine didn’t win a single ratings week too.

A Sunday so it looks destined for 7pm. Nine is nuts. I predict Masterchef on Ten will benefit big time from this.

Even though it was filmed ages ago, Ninja Warrior usually airs in July so you’d think Nine will hold it off until then. Beauty & The Geek will probably end up going against Farmer Wants A Wife (pretty much what happened years ago, just on opposite networks)?

As for Celebrity Apprentice, I think it’ll most likely flop and never be heard from again after this year.

Perhaps but knowing any old rubbish would rate well on Nine it could potentially rate.

To be honest the promos aren’t really that great. Reminds me of Married at First Sight promos except with Celebrities and Alan Sugar.

Interesting that 100% Footy will air at 8.50pm next Monday, following the Lego Masters Final. It usually airs around the 9.50pm (onwards) slot.

With the big lead-in, i hope that more viewers tune into the show. Its a good “footy show”, basic little show.

This will be interesting in terms of ratings/share, these shows are usually aired so late and now airing so early, will viewers respond positively? Rankings posted here on MS and raw ratings posted on TVT usually show it’s niche and definitely suited to late night (and probably rates okay for late night), but the ‘8:30pm’ timeslot could be risky. Hopefully can attract extra viewers.

Organized Crime is taking two weeks off in the US and will be back on Nine soon.

UPDATE: it’s another crossover with Law & Order: SVU (s22e13). The two episodes air in the US on Thursday, May 13. Since Nine has scheduled 100% Footy and Footy Classified next Monday (May 17), it will air Organized Crime crossover episode on May 24, following the broadcast of part 1 (SVU) on 10 on Thursday, May 20.

Both Seven and Nine seem to be returning to shows which really are designed to air weekly, but keeping their stripped schedule.

Having Lego Masters, Ninja Warrior and Celebrity Apprentice air one night a week each (maybe with Lego or Ninja twice a week) for three months would give them a much more solid hold on the schedule than airing each format for 3-4 weeks.

Law & Order: For the Defense will air on Thursdays on NBC followed by SVU and OC. It is interesting to see if Nine will acquire the rights to For the Defense.

For Life, which is streaming on 9Now and also aired on Nine last summer, has been axed after two seasons, but production company Sony Pictures TV will shop it to other broadcasters.

Not particularly interested so far in For The Defence, will see when they announce the cast if that changes.

Too many Law and Order shows.

The Law & Order franchise has been the mainstay of NBC’s primetime programming for the past 30 years, it is unlikely to change in the near future.

Big week for Nine with 4 season premieres - 3 local.

Only Celebrity Apprentice gets the 7.30pm stripped reality treatment. Success for Emergency and Weakest Link will probably be reliant on how well the apprentices perform for Nine.

A Perfect Planet is a five-part earth science series presented by David Attenborough with the first episode broadcast on 3 January 2021 on BBC One. Episode 1 is Volcano. BBC promo:

Solid schedule from 9, not a huge fan of stripped Celebrity though.

Credit to the network though for having a fairly consistent post 8:30pm schedule through the year.

So Law & Order: Organized Crime is off the schedule altogether. It is going to be a long wait for L&O fans to see part 2 of the crossover.

Rather than giving Sydney and Brisbane viewers the chance to catch up on episode 8 and 9 of Space Invaders on TV (they were pre-empted due to Super Rugby grand final and live NRL), Nine is going to the next new show (A Perfect Planet), forcing them to see the two episodes on 9Now.

Solid schedule overall.
