Nine Network - Programs and Schedules

Surprised to see the Super Rugby Final shown on Nine in Sydney and Brisbane. This will also make it the fourth time that Space Invaders has been rested.

Space Invaders rested for: the coverage of Prince Phillip’s death; then it was for his funeral; then the Music from the Home Front special and now for the Super Rugby Final.

Edit : Space Invaders wont air in Sydney and Brisbane next Saturday either, due to Rugby League (Magic Round) being played. So they’ll be two episodes behind the rest of the country.

I reckon Space Invaders will be out of sync from this Saturday, with Sydney and Brisbane two episodes behind Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Next Saturday (May 15) live NRL will be on main channel in Sydney and Brisbane.

Nine isnt treating Space Invaders good. So many promo about it and they decide to cut it several times.

Has it rated overly good anyway? I’m pretty sure rival programs on the ABC and even 10 had done better on some weeks in recent months, even Seven’s movies? I think it’s more ACA and to a lesser extent the 8:30pm movie that’s helped Nine’s share if anything.

Of course comparisons are difficult with Seven having a split schedule and much of their shares are from the AFL anyway.

Perhaps because Nine don’t want its primary channel to rank 8th behind 7, 10, ABC, 9Go!, 7mate, SBS and 10Bold? Outside of Wallabies games or World Cups there is next to zero interest in Union in Melbourne and Adelaide. In Perth there is marginal interest but it would clash with News due to the time difference.

Do you have concrete evidence of that?

A crowd of less than 5k at AAMI Park is pretty concrete.

According to online guides, the Saturday night NRL clash between the Roosters and the Cowboys will be shown live on 9GO! in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Well in Sydney and Perth, ACA, Space Invaders and Spider-Man Homecoming should be shown on 9GO, not The Last Airbender and Van Helsing!

The Monday finish for Lego Masters suggests Celebrity Apprentice will start on the week of May 23, followed by The Weakest Link soon after.

Surely Celebrity Apprentice can’t be a 7.30pm show?

Why not @NewsWeary?

It has never been a reality tent pole for Nine. I think the 2015 Celebrity Apprentice series aired once a week on a Wednesday after 8.30pm. Nine would be mad to air it at 7.30pm considering Alan Sugar isn’t that widely known in this country and the format has never rated that strongly here.

Nine are probably thinking of making Celebrity Apprentice like Married at First Sight if the promo is anything to go by. Full of drama and most likely stripped like Married because:

  1. They need to replace The Voice which was stripped.
  2. Because they haven’t started advertising their other realities like Beauty and the Geek, Ninja Warrior etc.

Could work or could end really badly for them if they choose to strip it. We’ll see.

I think the apprentice needs to go at 7:30. I never understood why it wasn’t given a better slot back in the day.

The first season in 2011 was at 7pm stripped.

How’d that work out for them?

It was renewed for several more seasons. The ratings for the 2011 seasons are on Wikipedia: The Celebrity Apprentice Australia (season 1) - Wikipedia
