Celebrity Apprentice Australia returns May 23rd with a record-breaking season

Celebrity Apprentice Australia will make its way onto our screens Sunday, May 23rd at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now in the most drama-filled, record-breaking season of the show to-date.

Fans will be invited into the boardroom of CEO Lord Alan Sugar , the respected – and feared – British billionaire and business magnate synonymous with the show after starring in all 15 seasons of The Apprentice UK.

Lord Sugar has made his presence felt down under, guided by his two trusted business advisors – Boost Juice pioneer and investor Janine Allis, and fashion designer and entrepreneur Lorna Jane Clarkson.

They will oversee 14 extraordinary Celebrities, all giants of their respective fields, as they compete to become the next Celebrity Apprentice . They will use every trick in the book as they each fight to raise money for a charity close to their heart, with the winner of the series earning a further $100,000 in prize money.

This season will be packed with dramatic boardroom showdowns that have to be seen to be believed. There will be clashes of egos, plenty of twists, Celebrity guest cameos and entertaining tasks for the Celebrities to conquer.

One Celebrity will also make history – earning more money for their chosen charity than any other in the history of the show.

14 Celebrities will compete, with the initial 12 including:

  • ARIA Award-winning pop duo, The Veronicas – Lisa and Jess Origliasso
  • English comedian and actor, Ross Noble
  • Judge on The Block , interior designer and writer, Shaynna Blaze
  • Winner of Australian Survivor: All-Stars and international model, David Genat
  • Star of Married at First Sight and social media influencer , Martha Kalifatidis
  • Writer, comedian, and star of Here Come the Habibs, Rob Shehadie
  • Iconic fashion designer and artist, Camilla Franks
  • ARIA Award-winning artist, Anthony Callea
  • Professional surfer and Instagram star, Alex Hayes
  • Celebrity personal trainer, author and TV personality, Michelle Bridges
  • One half of Nova FM’s Fitzy & Wippa radio show, Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli
  • The most successful woman in Australian Ninja Warrior history and Olympic gymnast, Olivia Vivian

And two surprise Celebrity recruits:

  • Three-time AFL champion with Hawthorn, Josh Gibson
  • Former Miss Universe Australia and 9News Perth weather presenter, Scherri-Lee Biggs

Celebrity Apprentice Australia is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia for the 9Network, based on the format created by Mark Burnett and distributed by MGM

To paraphrase Jo Van Es (when Gogglebox reviewed the last season of Celebrity Apprentice), it seems like Nine have signed up Australia’s most available celebrities for the new season!

Referring to some of those people as ‘celebrities’ is an exaggeration.

Isn’t it always with these celebrity shows?

I think it’s a good cast. I’m looking forward to it.

Alan Sugar’s Twitter feed is full of plugs for companies he owns, part owns with an Apprentice, or a homage to companies he used to own. If he takes a shine to any of the Australian contestants maybe they have a chance of getting an injection of funds and constant Twitter plugs from him.

I’ll give this a go with Lord Sugar, although unsure how I’m going to handle 4.5 hours of content per week - although I’m sure the way these reality shows on Seven and Nine are often edited, good chance I’ll be able to easily cut that down to around 3 hours.

Interesting to see how this goes tonight. It has had such an inconsistent schedule history - sometimes early in the year, sometimes late other years not shown at all.

Also, will Nine repeat their previous unfortunate practice of separate ratings codings for “The Challenge” and “The Boardroom”?

I didn’t mind it. Definitely seeing a different side to some of these people.

However I do really wonder how much of the fired decision is Lord Sugar or actually producers.

Enjoyed the first ep. Also agree with the first firing.

Tonight was my first time watching Celebrity Apprentice for me, I hadn’t watched previous seasons apart from the odd clip on YouTube.

I thought it was okay. The challenge seemed a bit meh, maybe more suited to 2011 than 2021. Viewers want excitement. Get out into the streets of Sydney and do something silly.

I agree with others that they made the right choice in firing Alex. The producers will be wanting to keep Martha in as long as possible so MAFS viewers/fans of Martha continue to watch this program.

Loved the first episode. It is a great cast
