Yeah but jumping on YouTube and downloading is easier and quicker than finding a film reel or scrubbing through lots of videos.
Based on this - a quick schedule idea, where TV3 in NZ became a news channel during the day:
5.30am AM Early
6am AM
9am Newshub Now (rolling news)
11.30 ITV News at Ten
12pm Newshub Now
1.30 7 Morning News (live from Sydney)
2pm Newshub Now
5.30 Sport Today (new show - pretty self-explanatory)
6pm Newshub Live at 6
7pm Ryan Bridge
7.30 Primetime schedule; as now
10.30 Nightline (rebranded - or debranded? - Newshub Late)
11.00 Late night schedule; as now
~1.00am Informercials (or alternatively, relay CNN International)
Weekends would stay as they are now - usual mix of repeats, NZOA stuff and the odd sporting event.
So, hypothetically speaking, Newshub-branded bulletins, AM, AM Early, and the now-defunct Ryan Bridge 7pm project continue beyond July 6 on a revamped, semi-news-focused Three, despite the brand and broader division being axed due to cost-cutting? Realistically, it’s a stretch to imagine the Newshub brand making a comeback. It’s more plausible that WBD would leverage content from their owned entities such as CNN, HLN, etc., to populate slots if Three transitioned to a news/general entertainment format.
Noooo… not at all. This was purely hypothetical, if Three had decided to make more of their news division. It is NOT a prediction of the future or anything like that… if anything I think it’s much more likely Three itself will close down within the next 18 months.
My idea is for a government-owned community channel for Canberra called CBR TV.
CBR TV will showcase the best local shows that Canberra has to offer.
Part of the CBR Network, here’s a rough schedule of the channel, based on the Channelvision schedule and my own ideas:
Weekdays:
05:30–09:00: Canberra Breakfast
09:00–10:00: Sportsvision
10:00–12:00: The Base
12:00–13:00: Canberra Midday
13:00–14:00: Entertainment Canberra
14:00–15:00: Career Vision
15:00–18:00: CBR Wrapped (simulcast with Mix106.3)
18:00–19:00: News
19:00–19:05: Community Noticeboard
19:05-21:00: Framed (reality show on Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays), Postcode (lifestyle on Thursdays/Fridays)
21:00–00:00: Informercials
00:00–05:30: Simulcast of 2XX-FM (until 7:00AM on weekends)
Weekends:
07:00–10:00: Weekend Mornings
10:00–12:00: Vox Pops
12:00–13:00: Earthwalkers
13:00–15:00: Food for Thought
15:00–16:45: Short Talk
16:45–17:00: Last Post Ceremony
17:00–17:30: CBR News
17:30–18:00: Detour
18:00–19:00: Talking Politics
19:00–19:10: Community Noticeboard
19:10–21:05: Postcode (repeat on Saturday), Framed (on Sunday)
21:05–00:00: Simulcast of C31 Melbourne
00:00–07:00: 2XX–FM simulcast
CBR TV would be owned by the ACT Government, as stated above. The channel would feature ACT Government press conferences, as a result, pre-emptying its usual programming as well as the Last Post Ceremony on weekends.
I’ve had an idea for a TV Network for the Brisbane area (could be a national network if it’s viable) for the last like - 10 years (thought of it when I was younger) and thought I’d explain it here to see what your thoughts on it are even though it’s completely fictional.
The network would be called SAMSET with the tagline “you’re all set with SAMSET.”
Main Channel: Sam
News Program of Daybreak (5am-7am) with the tagline “As the day breaks - so does news. Start your day informed”
On weekdays would have educational shows from 9am - 1pm under the banner of SamEDU
On weekends would have kids programs (some ideas for shows is a TV adapation of Nevermoor book series, Rainbow Magic TV series, Zac Power TV series, Original series about an animate sock called Sockman, Original series that’s like My Little Pony but they’re vampire horses - show named Vampire Pony, Show based on the Run game series, show based on the Geometry Dash game, show based on the Kaboom Kid books)
Would have a flagship bulletin at 6pm called Sam News
Would have a gaming news show at 5pm called RTX Gamers
Would have a game show at 5.30pm based on the game 20 Questions
Would have adult programs from 8.30pm under the banner Mature Laughs (ML)
Would have a league sports show weekends 12pm on Sam
Channel would closedown at midnight and reopen at 5am.
Secondary/Multichannel: SamTOTS
Would air children’s programs (think ABC Kids) and some show ideas are:
Where’s Wally TV show, show based on sylvanian families toys, Car & Co - tv show about toy cars, Legoville - tv show about a lego town, Legoville Superheroes - tv spin off of Legoville with superheroes, Puppeto - tv show about toy puppets/puppet show, The Gumnutties - tv show about animate gumnuts living life in the aussie bush, Original show called Starlight Academy about these creatures learning about the galaxy, Enid Blyton’s Tales - animated versions of Enid Blyton’s stories, Life In the Treehouse - animated series about the treehouse book series.
Would air kindergarten educational shows between 9am-11am under the SamEDU banner
Network closes down at 7.30pm and reopens at 5am
Third Channel/Multichannel: Sam BeME (formerly going to be called SamTEENS - but then ABC Me changed to entertains and consider this a dig at the poor children’s TV broadcasting for teens)
Would air tween/teen & family programming
Shows would be:
Subsurfers - tv show about subway surfers and would be animated, Dolphin Island - tv show based on dolphin island series, BSC TV - take the netflix babysitters club tv series, The School for Good & Evil.
Would also have a few Sam shows.
Would air movies on a friday night called “Sam BeME’s friday flicks”
Would air educational high school shows from 9am-1pm weekdays under the SamEDU banner
Would closedown at 9pm and reopen at 5am
Fourth Channel/Multichannel: Sam4
Would air repeats of shows across the SAMSET network
Would carry Sam shows if Sam has sports or other special broadcasting
Airs a repeat of the BeME friday flicks Saturday Mornings from 12pm
Airs adult programming under the banner of Mature Laughs from 9pm
Closedown at midnight and reopens at 5am
Radio Network:
SAMSET Radio Network (SRN)
The stations would be called: SRN [place/area name] [frequency]
Format would be like other stations (think hit/nova/triple M networks)
SAMSET could also have sports on weekends if it could get the money to secure some form of rights.
Overall, might follow kids programming too much but there’s a gap in the market for it with the closure of ABC ME and no other network really doing kids shows (9go! is basically adverts)
It could fit in the 80s LCN as last I looked nothing is there.
Feedback is also welcome.
I have far too many mockups on Canva & Notepad if you are somehow interested.
(yes - i’ve thought of all this for a fictional media network lol )
Ah, so SAMSET as a whole is laid out similar to that of ABC!
I would love to see them
I do like how structured it all is, you put a lot of thought and detail into it! With the SamEDU educational block in the morning, it reminds me of ABC in the 2000s.
It is cool that you have a lot of passion for all the ideas that relate to SAMSET.
I have a similar fictional Network of mine that originates back to October 12th 2007, as a project between Primary School friends and I.
I would like to share it at some point too!
So, as requested, finally sat down to export some files/mocks I did in Canva.
All images either googled or stock images
Mostly all end-boards and advertisements I made
The Daybreak designs feature no presenter.
The first graphic does not allow you to read the information clearly.
Third lot… MS file limit, sorry for any unnecessary notifications…
Feedback on a fictional network is welcome
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand that’s the last of all the mockups I have!
Feedback on any of them is welcome, I put waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much effort into this.
Maybe I should try to make this a reality one day.
Great to see you doing some more on this.
Take a look in here for a start point:
Especially on:
Continuing the discussion from Guide to Mocking:
These “watermarks” are way too big.
Ah all good, these have been my first real time crafting mocks anyway, will read the guide and make them fit to mock-guide quality
Hey, don’t sweat. They’re a great first time! And in terms of concepts and ideas you’re doing really well with a broad range of things thought of. Keep it up and keep improving with practice!
