The idea of a local Southern Cross signal acting as a Community TV-like service is an interesting one, but the ‘Gold’ name would be difficult as WIN Gold already exists and may mislead viewers.

Too much glitter from the Gold brand here. Perhaps it could be branded Platinum instead of Gold re the use of Gold by WIN. Or even investigate whether the Star Television name was available - a good tie in with the Southern Cross branding

My dream TV network(s) is coming along nicely.

Just need to put a 2 in there for the ABC and I’m replicating life in the Upper Hunter in the 90s. And yes, the channel numbers are based upon pre-aggregation. SBS might as well be all porn and soccer later on - one for channel 28. :joy:

I would make the LCN SCG so for example “SCG Mount Gambier”

Wouldn’t make any difference to the branding conflict that would arise with WIN though.

Who are these people?

A half hour weather report?

Oh I should have scrolled to the top first and read that.

They could drag out the weather I guess - Given most weather reports are 1-2 minutes and even if they set the regions something like

  1. FNQ/Capricornia,
  2. Darling Downs/Wide Bay/Sunshine Coast,
  3. Brisbane and Gold Coast,
  4. Nth NSW,
  5. Sth NSW,
  6. Sydney,
  7. Melbourne,
  8. Murray/Riverina,
  9. East Vic,
  10. West Vic,
  11. East SA,
  12. West SA,
  13. Adelaide,
  14. Nth Tas,
  15. Hobart/South Tas,
  16. Nth WA,
  17. Sth WA,
  18. Perth,
  19. Darwin,
  20. Outback NT,
  21. Outback QLD,
  22. Outback NSW

As ou can see if it could be spread out to the full half hour, average of 1 minute per region. Add in things like warnings it wouldnt take much to make it last half hour, but I am not sure you would include WA country weather on the east coast and vice versa. I think you would need 3 separate editions because I for one wouldnt sit through a whole half hour listening to other regions weather forecast unless I was travelling to that region.

Im surprised there isnt a statewide local news bulletin for each state

yeah who’s gonna watch that in Primetime?

who is going to watch either in primetime? I would record a statewide news and try and find the news relevant to my region, but i definately wouldnt want to see news stories for the New England region of NSW nor would I want to watch Riverina news stories - WINs AAN was atrocious and I believe this station would be more likely a brain child of a someone who cant see outside Wollongong

How do you make good ones anyways

Surveys continue to rank war documentaries, particularly WW2, as perennial favorites for men aged 25+.

Streamers like Netflix are offering more and more content in this growing market and it certainly provides an opportunity for a terrestrial broadcaster like SBS to launch my dream TV network.

Make good dream networks? Well you come up with ideas for what your dream network would be, and right them down. Don’t just ask ChatGPT as that is always crap.

A network called Nazi Gold?

Indeed. You can have UK Gold, Comedy Gold and then coming up tonight at 6, Finding Hitler, then at 7, brand new Nazi Megastructures, must see TV tonight on Nazi Gold.

You’re proposing a Nazi based TV channel?
