Back in the 90’s, 96.1 Triple M started in 1993 with a rock format, but once Village merged with Austereo, it went to CHR and things went bad.
I like the current 92.9 format, 96FM has softened as a result and competes with both Mix 94.5 and Triple M.

How has MMM Perth been rating other than the breakfast show?

Will they chuck an SCA and ‘blow up’ the new branding and revert to its original brand in 2022?

It was discussed briefly in the latest radio survey thread.
MMM Perth had moderate ratings in the other timeslots, way behind Nova, Mix 94.5 and 96fm. In mornings, drive and evenings MMM was even behind 6PR.

Phone line issues on Triple M.
Danny Lakey had one caller who was trying to get through to Dave Ferrier’s show. A bit of chat about how the two shows co-existed in Brisbane but that Ferrier was on the regional stations. Lakey acknowledged the issues and said they would get the phone issue fixed.

I think that TripleM will succeed in the longer term. The male rock loving demographic is there and having the end to end afl coverage will be a big advantage once the WA teams are back in finals contention, something 96fm won’t have. There probably are some programming tweaks around breakfast etc but all fixable.

I somewhat agree there. 96FM’s weakness is that they’ll always be part of a Hot AC KIIS Network. They’ll never be pure rock and pure male skewed whilst airing shows like K&J and Will & Woody.

I imagine this caller was in the overlap area between Brisbane and Gold Coast as both shows would use the 1333 53 number.
Triple M Gold Coast now has it’s own number, 1300 925 666, since they ditched the separate regional number (13 27 10). This is the problem with using the same number in overlap zones.

Shame they couldn’t / didn’t get 1300 925 925, as 925 925 was their phone number when they first converted to FM (back when regional phone numbers were still 6 digits).

They even do a custom intro and edit it slightly different for Melbourne where it is promoted more as a “catch-up” or “in case you missed it this morning” type show.
