Radio Stations - Music Logs

Woah that’s not something I’ve heard smooth (or any commercial station in Aus) play for a LONG time. Interesting though, I played it the other day🤔.

That Magic log looks quite good - I’d take that over 3MP as I’m not much of an “Easy Music” fan pre-1980s.

Meanwhile, up in Sydney, let’s look at how 2UE compares with 2CH at present, the latter which is due to be replaced by SEN eventually.

I heard “I’ll Fly For You” on Coles Radio of all places a few weeks ago. I think 2XL spin it occasionally, too.

A cool track for those cool blustery South Gippsland days, eh?

Yep, those cool and just nice South Gippsland days (except for the rain, great for the farms & reservoirs but not much else). Speaking of, here’s an hour I put together just recently:

Nice work. That’s the sort of thing I’ll be doing, though with sets of three or four songs.

That Smooth log really shows the market opportunity that 3MP has. I suppose the positioner as ‘Feel Good’ makes my thought of a comparison to that phase of Mix, not what I’d have expected from Smooth.

Magic probably wins it for me music wise out of that hour - but I wish they were as organised with presenters and overall station flow as 3MP are - surely it isn’t costing ACE much to do what they are doing with 3MP, yet the overall sound as a radio station is vastly better than Magic.

Smooth is getting very safe in its playlist. The Spandau song is the only real winner there apart from SOS (because it happens to be my favourite ABBA song). But apart from those two… It’s wall to wall over-flogged songs. Why are they doing this?

I prefer Smooth Relax now.

Reversion to the mean.

I like Smooth Relax also :+1:

Hasn’t WS gone downhill. None of those playlists jump out at me. Smooth would be my pick.

I agree. That WS log is horrible.

Things I hate on Nova and KIIS.

Horrible dance remixes of quality ballads:
Lewis Capaldi / Future Humans - Someone You Loved (Remix)

Horrible remakes:
Brando - Look Into My Eyes

Horrible dance remixes of horrible remakes:
Jubel / Neimy - Dancing In The Moonlight (remix)

Horrible songs overplayed every couple of hours:
Doja Cat - Say So

Mouldy oldies that won’t die:
Ne-Yo - So Sick

If that is a ‘mouldy oldie’ then what does that make me? I had to look that one up on YouTube as I couldn’t identify it off the bat. It’s from 2005 and I actually do know it…

2005 was fifteen years ago (shudder) and in the context of CHR yes, that is old.

It gets worse. They played Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers today. Thst is so not a Nova song. Are they trying to be 2Day now or Triple M?

The RHCP are a classic band that seems to resonate with the yoof of today.

KIIS and Nova aren’t ballad stations. While it’s good to know the original song, I prefer that they do keep the tempo up and play a remix. Also helps that it extends the shelf life of the song
