The fact that the Perth telethon is the best in the country and well known for raising millions each year says it will stay for a while yet. I’m not sure about all the other ones but this one Is far too successful to suddenly stop running.
Oh. And someone can check this I’m pretty sure Telethon is a charity in it’s self.
As long as Stokes owns SevenWest it’ll continue to be a thing, particularly as he wants to dominate the landscape in Perth / WA - not just Telethon, but in other ways (he’s the reason Basil Zemplias is the Mayor of the City of Perth for instance).
I would suggest if the network had fallen into ownership away from WA, its days would be numbered.
Ella Hooper will perform on Telethon’s opening night next Saturday, after commencing her national Old News Tour in Perth (Guildford on Thursday and North Perth on Friday).
The show’s Instagram page also revealed during the week the personalities who would appear at the event, including Manu Feildel, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Hoodoo Gurus, Luke Hodge, Nic Naitanui, and many more. https://www.instagram.com/p/CjnAoJrrY71/
Well it is Perth afterall; where if it’s not on Seven …
Also, the entry for Sunrise that day differs from the usual so perhaps it will be a Perth edition.
will be a special Perth edition.
Join Seven for coverage of the 55th annual Telethon. Watch Kochie and Nat from Sunrise, Larry Emdur, Lynne McGranger and Ada Nicodemou as they help support vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
It’s a Channel 7 telethon, so, yes it will be heavy in 7 talent. This is nothing particularly new or unusual. The Good Friday Appeal is similar though it gets much less attendance from even 7 personalities.
According to Last night’s 7 news, The conga line for milestones and the phantom pie thrower, both of which we haven’t seen for years, are back this year.
Really looking forward to it.Will be nice to return to pre-covid telethon, with the 26 hours live and the stars from interstate.
