Nine (WIN)

Is there an external service that provides the footage or is it recorded by the station? I’ve always wondered where they source the footage. You have services from company’s like iSentia but it it’s far from broadcast quality. I used to work for Media Monitors years ago.

Usually done internally by News Exchange/Transfers, Editors or Videotape staff, depending on the network’s set up. So it’s completely possible for one network to use Fox Sports, while another uses Ten/Nine/Seven footage if the game is simulcast.

Also, Fox Sports has no ad breaks… meaning replays and colour shots are more readily available.

At Nine’s 2022 Upfront presentation, the company announced that it was moving rapidly to further integrate the WIN national sales team into the Nine sales structure following its change of regional affiliate to WIN earlier this year.

The changes will be effective from July 1, 2022 and will give marketers and agencies one aligned and more integrated team, making it easier to brief and buy Nine’s leading television audiences across Australia.

Love how they just call it ‘regional’ and don’t mention who their regional network affiliate is.

WIN as a brand is really on the way out.

WIN will all but cease to be an entity come July 2022, WIN will merge with 9 or 9 will buy the regional affiliate, then the changes will start.

That’s all good and well, but how does that affect Northern NSW? Surely Ten wouldn’t be happy with Nine selling the advertising on their affiliate? Or perhaps they don’t really care as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Pushes the argument that SCA might re purchase NRN due to Nine’s ownership of NBN.

So this time next year (or in a couple of years from now), we might have pure Nine Network stations in most TV markets of Australia?

I think you’ll find the deal only applies for the Nine-affiliated stations (and possibly the solus markets due to their nature).

Nine has no association with NRN, I find it unlikely that they would be willing to take on advertising responsibility for it; WIN would likely either keep managing sales for NRN themselves, or even outsource to SCA.

No, “regional tv” is the equivalent of “metro tv” seen on the same picture. Looking too much into that.
