Regional Queensland full bulletin:
After watching these i think these bulletins are much better off on the 30 minute format then what it was before, and my favourite presenter would be Samantha Heathwood. QTQ are lucky to have her.
They should be pre recording where they farewell regional and Gold Coast viewers
Completely disagree.
Regional viewers want local news!
Under the old format, within the first 5 minutes (usually) of the start of the bulletin, there would be a whole block dedicated to local news stories where you could get a relatively comprehensive coverage of all the major local stories for the day.
Now, viewers have this mixed up bulletin where the majority of stories are of no relevance. Local stories are scattered randomly and hard to find, and there are far less of them then there used to be.
It’s a much worse product for a local regional viewer
I would rather the old local news back then this is a stupid mish mash of so-called local news
I see your point, I do remember the local windows they were good. But didn’t the rest of the bulletin continue to have Brisbane based stories which didn’t have meaning to regional viewers? I think this way the whole bulletin is local. But some regions don’t get mentioned - a lot of FNQ centric. Sport & Weather is too short.
Well now they still get more Brisbane stories between 6-7pm then they had before. And if people want local news and state/national news they now have to watch foe 90 minutes from 530-7pm
The 530pm bulletin is not local news. It’s local stories aired in one pan-regional or statewide bulletin. So whereas before someone in Cairns was subjected ro Brisbane stories. Now they are subjected to toowoomba, rockhampton, maroochydore AND Brisbane stories…
Not to mention it’s aired at a time when less people can view it
They’re still persisting with these with no headlines.
It makes the bulletins feel so rushed, unimportant and lacking impact and depth
Headlines exist for a reason. And in the case of these bulletins they are even more needed as the opening story is often a hyper local story that does not have appeal to 85% of the audience outside that local area
Headlines would allow them to tease at least one story from each of the 4-6 local areas served by each bulletin
Can’t for the life of me work out the strategy here
Lol.
wishful thinking there mate they won’t axe it. the only way it will be axed is if win becomes the 9 affliate other wise your dreaming
Doing the bare minimum for their regional affiliate because they are too lazy and broke to do it themselves.
Well you never know, the ratings would be poor in Queensland.
as i said before your dreaming . so lets leave it at that
Yes, why not showcase immediately how few stories are of interest to the local viewer rather than teasing it out over half an hour.
They should be pre-recording intros like previously then continue the rest of the bulletin live as normal.
The Darwin product is 20x better than the Local one.
That doesn’t explain not doing headlines. It’s a standard part of making a bulletin.
I think as someone else pointed out it’s deliberate.
The producers must feel putting local headlines for each region up top only serves to highlight to people that there are many stories coming up that ARE NOT of interest/ in the region, i think that must be their thinking
I can see how they arrived at that thought - but I don’t agree
If viewers are making it through the bulletin as it is, it’s not going to hinder viewership by highlighting stories coming up
Also, the headlines could be done in a teasey way to make viewers across all regions think the story could be in their area
“A local council voted to change the whole city to 40km speed zones”
Or “a horror highway crash leaves 2 dead”
As I said above, they could pre-record some 20-30 second headline intros for each region then head into the bulletin live - just like the previous format.
It will feature the local stories for that region in the bulletin and maybe a major one. It’s also a good way to trick viewers into thinking it’s a dedicated bulletin - if they enjoy doing that.
I think generic headlines like car accidents won’t work as in these regional areas as most people already know the stories of the day before they watch their local news. Regional cities are small town syndrome on large scale. Everyone knows everything lol
I think that’s what A Current Affair does. They like to tag Melbourne in their promos but the stories are not necessarily Melbourne-based or Melbourne-specific.
e.g. “We uncover the dodgy businesses ripping off Melbourne pensioners”, “these special deals will help Melbournians save at Christmas time”, etc etc but you know they’re generic “national” stories or Sydney-based stories where the actual location is sufficiently obscured.
