I think that’s what A Current Affair does. They like to tag Melbourne in their promos but the stories are not necessarily Melbourne-based or Melbourne-specific.
e.g. “We uncover the dodgy businesses ripping off Melbourne pensioners”, “these special deals will help Melbournians save at Christmas time”, etc etc but you know they’re generic “national” stories or Sydney-based stories where the actual location is sufficiently obscured.
Ñot dissimilar to US morning shows either which often feature “caught on camera” freeway chase type stories or baby pram
“A wild freeway chase during rush hour - caught on camera” or “a moms anguish as her baby’s stroller falls onto suburban railway tracks”
The stories being from Perth and Melbourne
(They BARELY mention Australia even when they run the story)
Tonight on A Current Affair: Major Australian TV scandal. How networks misleadingly promote stories during nationally screened programs as if they’re issues which directly affect [INSERT MARKET HERE]!
