Queensland tonight had Andrew at Mooloolaba. However, the Ukraine war pre-empted flood reporting so Melissa handled that.
I do think for things like this, it would be good to have the backdrop actually have more than just “BREAKING NEWS”, surely, “RUSSIA INVADES” or something along those lines would be good to have behind the presenter.
The tabloids from Nine Brisbane are starting to spread to other markets. I was watching RBT when a promo came on and was about a Magic pill that apparently helped you lose weight.
Is this Breaking News? I can’t really tell…
I feel like setting off the fire alarm when I see that backdrop… waaaay too much red.
Melbourne has been advertising these types of stories for a long time, but it makes a huge difference when you don’t go for super tabloid text and graphics.
Where’s those news choppers when you need them!
I doubt they could fly in this rain - the traffic chopper is grounded. May come down to boats.
Typical Nine Queensland, trying to make a fearful story
Pretty bad that they didn’t use the live shot as the background this afternoon. Or have a wet weather version. Kind of gives it away that it’s fake when it’s been torrential rain All day and yet there isn’t a cloud in sight.
Great caps.
Old fashioned grammar from Nine, “rooves” hasn’t been common usage for years, it’s generally “roofs” these days.
A good night for Nine News, ACA and 60 Minutes at the Walkleys.

The winner of best news report was from Nine News Brisbane and despite all the criticism of the bulletin two of the three stories nominated for that award were from Brisbane, the third was from Amelia Adams in the US. Anticipating promos to roll out soon.
Multiple warning relating to the flood emergency were issued Friday night but none made it to air on TV in Queensland that I saw. That includes Nine’s late bulletin that did not have any coverage of the floods at all. The first was this before 6.30pm on Nine this morning - probably using a template that Nine uses for thunderstorm warnings.
That’s unbelievable.
