Discussion moved here so as to not go wildly off topic in the “Masked Singer” thread.

Between those two shows, an NRL season that has been extended to Late October and three State of Origin matches in November, I think Nine should be able to sustain themselves OK for the remainder of this year.

2021 will be an extremely challenging one for all television networks though, especially if the virus situation doesn’t calm down in NSW & Victoria (ie, the states where virtually all primetime shows are produced) soon.

I agree. Although since that strategy worked so well for them in 2019, can you really blame Nine for doing it again this year?

That’s true - it was the first time Nine won the year in a very long time… but I would’ve liked for them to at least mix it up a little.

Although MAFS is still a juggernaut, the 2020 ratings haven’t been able to live up to last years. Lego Masters has done wonders, however The Voice was soundly beaten by Masterchef (and even Big Brother in the demos)

It’ll be an interesting test to see how Ninja goes against the newly-revamped Farmer and of course the phenomenon Masked Singer.

We can give them a jail-free card this year (and next year perhaps depending on the situation), but Nine should continue to innovate their lineup if they want to cement their position as No.1. Fail to do that and in the long run they’ll suffer the same fate Seven faced last year.

More shows to accompany their winning slate at 7.30 plus innovation to post 8.30 slot which has been quite weak (except for Travel Guides, Paramedics etc) for years.

Nine is dusting off The Celebrity Apprentice, with Warner Bros. to make a new series for next year. Solomon Lew and Andrew Forrest have been mentioned as possible candidates as the boss in the series.
