But it means the test will not stretch the distance, which it has for the majority of the past 2 seasons of test cricket in Australia.
Are you kidding?
Australia (putting it mildly for me) were totally sh*thouse today, the batsman are just not up to scratch. It was another poor day of cricket viewing
I absolutely agree with @JohnsonTV, this will only continue to hurt Ch 9âs ratings performance sadly.
How much money are they paying for the international rights again, better still have CA stipulated in any annual reports what they expect/want in terms of viewership (I know, rather weird question)?
So yesterday was also poor?
Thatâs what I was thinking. Nine would much prefer a test that went 5 days with the fifth day ending in prime time. IIRC Perth was the only test last summer that managed that. A couple of test were three days. I think this was brought up by Nine in some negotiations for this yearâs coverage with Nine asking for some compensatory games somehow - understandable if you are paying for the rights to broadcast 30 test match days and only get 24 or so.
Nine knows the cricket will not usually end until after 9:00pm AEST, so why are they scheduling the following programs to start at 8:45pm AEST?!?! On Friday night the cricket ended sometime after 9:20pm. I think they should just schedule the telecast to end at 9:30pm and have an extended wrap.
Is Nine using Billy Slater on the cricket too ???
Or do you mean Michael Slater?
(Iâm guessing the latter!)
haha yes I mean Michael Slater. I did that earlier as well and had to correct myself.[quote=âLukeMovieMan, post:162, topic:1894â]

Can I just ask if this was the AFL would you be so negative? Only the other day you were saying hopefully it was more competitive. Now you are saying because South Africa fought back it was shithouse. This makes no sense and completely contradicts everything you said. You mentioned last year was one sided, so this year there is a competition and because Australia are not dominating it wonât do well.
Do you not understand how cricket works? Sometimes it is a very good batting wicket sometimes it is a very good bowling wicket. On this instance it seems to be a good a bowling wicket with both teams fairing very evenly when it comes to bowling. That is just how it works sometimes. Well that is an issue but from a viewers perspective, and someone how absolutely loves fielding and bowling, it is fantastic for a close game even if it means both sides arenât fairing as well when batting. Hopefully South Africa bat through most of today and manage between 300-400. It will set up an epic run chase.
Are you surprised? lol
Due to time difference, Perth will have to go to news at 6pm (9pm AEDT), so they miss out on most of post match wrap anyway.
Well @turdall the poor ratings last night (again) paint a very clear pictureâŚ
Equivilent night last year also had around 1m.
Thatâs what I was saying, if the cricket isnât exciting or Australia especially are getting smashed, people donât want to watch.
Anyway, hopefully we can do something today to recover
Very harsh to say Australia getting smashed, itâs still a 50/50 game.
And poor ratings? No way, 850k is still pretty good.
700k is poor now??? Boy AFL rates shit then. How is it boring if you cant tell who will win???
They are now!
240 runs and nearly 70 overs since the last wicket fell.
Ratings will be low today.
Did anybody notice that the South African fightback coinsided with when Dale Steyn went off injured? Youâd think Australia only need to take 9 wickets in this innings. Having said that Aussies will have the job ahead of them
I hope they give the run chase a red hot crack. Should have put some money on South Africa on day 1.
Yes, I think South Africa will win it from here, even with Steyn injured. Duminy will probably bowl some spin to help out. I think Edgar can bowl spin too?
Australia will need either or both Warner and Smith to make centuries for them to win as they look like having to chase 400+ (418 is the all time record for the highest successful 4th innings run chase).

Now does Nine REALLY expect us to believe that Michael Slater is actually controlling the âanalyserâ with that tablet?
That was extremely annoying again. He was worse than the first time.
