Saw a new promo for another team: the Victorian brothers, during The Front Bar last night.
According to a showreel of Seven’s upcoming shows aired during the Logies tonight, Colin said something like “the highest (instant restaurant) score in MKR history”. I wonder which team would receive the honour this season?
EDIT 19/8
The highest instant restaurant score in series history was 117 by Lisa & John Krasenstein, set during round 2 of instant restaurant in season 10, under a eight-team format. For the six-team format, Amy and Tyson Murr made the highest score of 102 during the opening round in season 8.
Watch it and you’ll find out.

The show reflected the hottest topics Israelis talked about and became the talk of the hour, thanks to the honesty of the participants that many Israelis could relate with.”
Banijay Rights CEO, Cathy Payne, said: “My Kitchen Rules is one of the stand-out culinary formats in Banijay Entertainment’s burgeoning catalogue, with a loyal international fan base.
“Featuring everyday cooking by some of the best amateur cooks, this much-loved series continues to appeal to audiences worldwide across multiple platforms, as demonstrated by our ongoing global deals.”

Easy peasy, Mike and Petey
Will their comments come back to bite them on MKR?
Mike and Pete are ready to tell it like it is on the new season of MKR , coming soon to Channel 7 and 7plus.
These long-time friends know they can cook, now they’re ready to dish up more than just their meals.
Pete promises to bring flair to the menu, while Mike’s unfiltered banter will add spice to the conversation and ruffle feathers at the table.
“There’s no controlling Mike’s mouth,” admits Pete.
Based in Western Australia, Mike and Pete are proud of their Italian heritage and passion for authentic, home-style cooking.
Declaring many of their competitors’ dishes easy, Mike assures: “we are going to have one of the best instant restaurants in MKR history;” while Pete claims: “I’ve never had a bad review on my cannoli.”
The most anticipated instant restaurant in MKR is coming! Can Mike and Pete stand the heat in the kitchen?
MKR features co-hosts and judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge travelling across the country to meet Australia’s most passionate home cooks: real people, cooking real food, in their own homes.
Interesting programming move by Seven. I thought it would follow The Voice rather than showing on the same week as the singing competition show.
Did they not do the same last year?
Yes - same pattern.
I think last year it was after the 2nd stage of the competition, this year it’s immediately after the blinds.
Episode 1 - Instant Restaurant Rob & Liam VIC
Monday 9 September
The first Instant Restaurant of the season fires up on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula with competitive brothers Rob and Liam.
This close knit duo leave their young families behind to chase the title of My Kitchen Rules champions and their shared food dream of starting a sauce business if they pocket the $100,000 prize money.
For Rob; a concreter and Liam; a bar owner, this is the ultimate challenge and they aim to smoke out the competition with Cajun mussels for entree, beef short ribs for main and Peanut Butter S’more and Bourbon Caramel sauce for dessert.
Will it be a night of blazing glory for Victoria’s BBQ bros?
Episode 2 - Instant Restaurant - Ash & Cassie SA
Tuesday 10 September
The competition continues in Adelaide, where young mums Ash and Cassie hope to impress judges Manu Fieldel and Colin Fassnidge with their healthy Asian-inspired meals.
The mums get off to a strong start with an entree of Duck Pancakes, but will the rest of their menu soar or sink?
Episode 3 - Instant Restaurant - Simone & Viviana QLD
Wednesday 11 September
Tonight in Brisbane, modern Italians Simone and Viviana are ready to make their mark on the competition, promising a ‘trip to the stars’ with their ‘twist’ on traditional Italian dishes.
Their entree draws almost universal praise but will a simple mistake in the kitchen be their undoing?
Manu and Colin are on the cover of this week’s issue of TV Week.
Welcome back to Australia’s greatest dinner party!

Real people, real food, big brands
Spotlight, Woolworths and Lurpak step into the MKR kitchen
The new season of Australia’s favourite cooking show, My Kitchen Rules, is set to land on the screens of Seven on 9 September, supported by a strong line-up of partners and sponsors.

The new season is set to be My Kitchen Rules’ biggest yet, as judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge travel around Australia in search of the best home cooks in the country. Manu will taste “the best dish I’ve ever had on My Kitchen Rules” as one team earns the highest score in the show’s history.
The new series on Channel 7 and 7plus will include brand integrations including a “Rate The Plate” competition, presented by Spotlight, and the Woolworths “Family Favourites Challenge”. Lurpak will feature in the show and in bespoke integrated assets highlighting key product moments.
Seven’s National Television Sales Director, Katie Finney, said: “All the elements that make My Kitchen Rules such a success are back this year – real people, cooking real food, in their own homes, with lots of fun and drama – along with some exciting twists.
“We are delighted to have Spotlight, Woolworths and Lurpak on board as major partners, plus Kaboodle Kitchens and Sensodyne as sponsors. My Kitchen Rules delivers the perfect platform to integrate brands authentically, as these brands enable the contestants in the competition and inspire our audiences to take action – whether it’s cooking the recipes from the show or drawing style inspiration from the contestants’ home restaurants.”
Spotlight CEO, Quentin Gracanin, said: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with My Kitchen Rules for the second consecutive year. This collaboration aligns perfectly with Spotlight’s passion for inspiring creativity through the joy of cooking and hosting. That’s why we are thrilled to announce our exciting first partnership with My Kitchen Rules.
“Lurpak and My Kitchen Rules aim to ignite excitement, challenge culinary boundaries, and inspire food lovers to explore the possibilities of creating delicious, good food. This is a perfect partnership, as My Kitchen Rules showcases the essence of good food, and at Lurpak we believe good food deserves Lurpak as it enhances the food it is paired with. Did Lurpak’s sponsorship mean teams could only use Lurpak when cooking in their instant restaurants, or could they still use whatever brand of butter of their choice?
Is that a serious question?
It is a serious question. Each team would have had their favourite brand of butter. If they had to use Lurpak in their dishes, it could have an effect on the flavour and texture of the food.
I think you’re really overthinking this show.
I don’t think @JohnsonTV is overthinking at all. Lurpak is terrible. Who would choose that?
