Nice to see Clear and Present Danger airing in its correct anamorphic widescreen aspect on 10 Drama tonight, rare for Paramount tapes on the network, possibly a new print (has been on other networks before too).
I’d expect this and Die Hard 3 on 7mate, as both channels’ did last Sunday, to rate again this evening. Also with Married finished and those not interested in Floor, 1%, MasterChef or public affairs programs channel surfing m/c.
Die Hard with a Vengeance is also in its original aspect and probably a newer file, as I think this was on Nine 20+ years ago when it was licenced by Roadshow who distributed Cinergi (the film’s international studio), before reverting to Fox globally and it was later on Ten.
Could Anybody Please Send Some Information On The Death Of The Sunday Night Movie In 2004 Please? The Front Page Of The Melbourne Age Green Guide Has In Memory Of The Sunday Night Movie, Passed Away 2004. It Is Also Likely To Be Found On Microfilm.
Disney’s Arachnaphobia, 1990 Spielberg-backed family monster classic starring Jeff Daniels (pre-Speed and Dumb & Dumber), John Goodman (start of Roseanne) and directed by Frank Marshall (now famous Spielberg producer), is on NITV tonight.
I think it’s somewhat significant that SBS also gained bvod rights for On Demand (for 1 month), given this title is not available on Disney Plus nor can you rent it on tvod like Google TV (you can only buy it to keep for $12) and it also isn’t in print on DVD, Bluray or 4K for Region 4/PAL. Not to mention how notoriously strict the studio usually is with licencing, to protect their svod, maybe that is why. And the fact it’s public network not CFTA. Can’t recall the last time Seven ran it, would’ve been many years ago.
SBS negotiating some good deals lately, if only people knew some of this stuff was available. Better funding and good marketing would be a start. Also an odd channel, why not World Movies or Viceland at least.
I think this sees the most movies (in fact more - about 10) on a single night on the same network since 2017, when 7Two used to air a movie after 7flix launch.
Assuming 7flix run the usual 4 and main channel goes back to 2 after Oops! I Bought A Pub ends.

Good for FTA, especially at a time people have become frustrated with increasing exorbitant svod fees and more fractured rights arrangements and some are going back to DVD/BluRay especially with the popularity of 4K UHD discs on 4K HDR TVs. Getting them for completely free (despite some ads) and even better if also available on bvod, all networks except 9Now having significant libraries now too.
Possibly for Nine’s local drama quotas? As per regulatory requirements AFAIK. Of course Seven and 10 never had any problems (until now) thanks to Home & Away and Neighbours.
I remember Nine airing limited release or straight-to-DVD Aussie and NZ films 20 years ago too.
