Good to see local film Spit airing on FTA. It’s a sequel to the cult film Gettin’ Square. Just wished that it didn’t air on the low rating channel of Nickelodeon though. On a Wednesday.

Flew under the radar with a super limited theatrical release too. Thought it would be a good one for Nine’s main channel at the back half of the week but I guess not…

I’m surprised it’s on FTA this year. I would have thought it wouldn’t be on FTA until at least 2027.

Wild Hogs on 9Go! tonight, another Disney pick-up, previously a Seven favourite.

Should get a few viewers and share this evening, especially those not interested in Lego or public affairs and older blokes who don’t watch Farmer, MC or Lego.

Looks like it was last run on 7flix in April last year. It premiered in October 2009 on Channel 7 the night of Bathurst 1000 day following first run Border, Force and then-brand new Sunday Night (back when all rated very high).

Quietly one of my favourites, even though it’s not a great film. Fun, mates road-trip, in the style of the Vacation movies, made better by the ensemble cast of Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H Macy, John C McGinley, Ray Liotta and Marisa Tomei. Original Easy Rider actor Peter Fonda also makes an appearance.

But what about erotic movies that basically don’t get to air normally on the channel due to broadcast restrictions? It would make everyone who loves watching the channel feel uncomfortable.

A Welsh language dub of the 1977 space epic, Star Wars: A New Hope, has been produced by Lucasfilm and Disney in collaboration with S4C and the Welsh Government via Creative Wales. The film, Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd, will broadcast on S4C and across its platforms from Christmas Day 2026. The news comes ahead of the iconic film’s 50th anniversary in 2027.

Nine running an old master tape of LW4 tonight across the network, probably some 20 years old.

Despite Nine opting for newer re-masters, including original scope prints, since renewing some Warners licencing a few years ago (after Seven’s output lapsed). Seven’s print for reference was a leter 2000s transfer, which plastered the original opening logo (seen below from Nine’s broadcast this evening) - some prints kept the 1998 anniversary theme while others also dubbed that.

Also not in the correct letterbox OAR of 2.35:1, a heavy Pan & Scan/crop to get that full frame 16:9, as the film was shot with anamorphic lenses.

Could also be because this is a cut ‘M’ version too, for 7:30pm.

it’s a TV movie made for Nickelodeon that apparently got burned off in it’s native US with no advertisement

Any preemptions by the networks for Tim Curry tribute over coming nights, like Dolly Parton? Rocky Horror, Annie, Clue, Home Alone 2, Three Muskateers, Congo, Scary Movie 2. @TV.Cynic @aarontvcentral
