Nine was able to cross to a WIN reporter on the scene, so I wouldn’t exactly say that Seven are streets ahead.
Okay, but every time I flicked back to 9 and ABC News after 11:30am (minus the initial coverage), they had nothing on the Freeman story, in fact totally different irrelevant story or ad break.
What I’m saying is why didn’t GTV-9 Melbourne at least break away or continue like HSV did. And ABC Melbourne, 10 Melbourne?
The pictures HSV obtained at 11:30am were great too, showing the area wide, the property and a close-up of a car (Police unmarked possibly as thought I saw a flashing blue light) and shipping container and related backyard objects.
Noticed they added watermarks across the middle of the screen. Didn’t see other networks use it yet.
Seven and Nine’s reporters presumably on the freeway up to the border, Zervos never seen only heard via phone, while Lantouris was stationary via a link to screen.
So apart from all the coverage, they haven’t covered the story. Right.
What is there to cut away to right now? If there are further updates or press conferences, I’m sure they will. Otherwise they are just repeating the same information they have had all morning.
I just found Seven’s special coverage in Melbourne, for roughly 20 or 30min I saw, to be really good.
Gave a lot of time to the raw media conference, had Karina recapping quite confidently and fluently too, a top cross to Cassie and combined with new images of the scene to paint a realistic picture and archival material.
I thought it was good and thought the other local stations might’ve done similar. Not saying it was award worthy or anything, but that’s my two cents ![]()
Did Seven take special coverage in Melbourne though or was it just the network coverage? Because those are two very different things.
Apart from dipping out of the press conference directly following the Commissioner’s statement, Nine had pretty much all of that as well.
So was it good or:
Nine are still with it, I think Seven had it but have moved on, not sure about Ten.
Vic Pol will hold another press conference around 5pm AEDT
I don’t want to be disrespectful but does this really need a special bulletin?
It also does feel a bit like not much will be different from the evening bulletin.

There’s only so many times you could recycle the same few points.
It probably doesn’t but Seven needs the extra ratings if they can get extra to stay on the network after Idol.
Who needs a regular latte news bulletin?

That’s how the NC works.
Assume she was there for another story originally?
