The PM’s address will be broadcast on all TV and radio networks, reports the ABC.
How will ABC handle this when that’s their news slot and the bulletins are only 30’?
10 will also show it.
local bulletins out the window probably (it’s the ABC they’ll be salivating at the opportunity).
Wonder what will happen here as it’ll be 6.30 local time, so right in the middle of the news on 9 and 7.
For 7/9, they will let each local crew handle the pre- and post-address.
It’ll be 6.30 Ade, 6.00 Bri and 4.00 Per - all the news times.
I’d be shocked if one of them decides to do a national special report. Depending on address length, they’ll both be on standby to switch subsequent programming to repeat mode.
Might be easier, just throw to Croucher in Canberra at a set time for him to do some preamble, rather than have 5 different teams trying to do it in different cities.
new: PM Albanese will give an "address to the nation" tonight at 7pm across TV and radio. It'll be on fuel, and is said to be about encouraging Australians to help save fuel for areas that need it

Probably won’t be more than 15 minutes?
I hope he is bringing us something of substance (ie buying more fuel from the US or something) rather than a doom and gloom ‘May is going to be tough’ sort of presser.
I’m hearing it’ll be less than 5 (don’t shoot me if I’m wrong)!
Meh, no one’s worth going to gaol over. ![]()
As long as it doesn’t interrupt the Kings giving it to the 36ers good long hard and indifferent.
I suspect it’s about fuel?
Yeah, so not even really worth much by way of programming. Early start to ACA/late finish to 7 and News+?
How is 10 covering it? Will it be included in News+ and delayed?
10 SYD/MEL will have Millionaire
10 ADL will have just finished News+
10 BNE will have just started News+
And 10 PER will be midway through Lingo
Probably the same way they do the Interest Rate coverage.
Unless he’s telling us something that we don’t already know, I don’t understand why this would require an address to the nation. Seems quite bizarre.
Perhaps all is no as they have been telling us.
Well on the fuel front I can see a sudden change as it was only 2 days ago they were reducing taxes (to make it more affordable) and ensuring us that there is sufficient reserves. I’m not opposed to some small short term practical measures though to encourage people to cut consumption and help in the long run (if the war goes on). This morning I saw a man filling multiple cans at my servo which infuriated me.
There seems to be a few developments in the middle east today. Trump is saying that he will likely withdraw from Iran in 2 weeks but will but is pressuring US allies to be the ones to get the Strait of Hormuz open. He has also announced a primetime televised live address to the US tomorrow. You have to wonder if these are all connected.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the full address will be on the ABC News channel, which already airs nationally on Eastern Time.
It’s just down to how much of the speech the main channel shows.
The first schedule adjustment is in: Seven’s news bulletin will be 90 minutes long. The remainder of the night will be delayed 30 minutes.
This is nationally applied.
