Cyclone Alfred has now been officially downgraded to Category 1, as the BoM and several overseas agencies had been forecasting would happen prior to landfall, for several days now, though this was never reported in any media coverage I’ve seen.
The official BOM advice now says not to use it.
what will happen to rage in NSW and QLD?
Is it being show on the main channel? I know it’s on the news channel.
Main Channel in QLD and NSW are taking the radio broadcast - according to iView Rage is on ABC Family and ABC Entertains at the moment (may be different on broadcast TV in QLD due to time difference)
The audio originates from ABC Local Radio covering the affected area that is also relayed on News Radio
Paul Burt has been a real asset to the 7 coverage. This morning on Sunrise giving lots of long explanations of many coastal things.
Like that a lot of reporters are reporting from their own homes. Keeps them safe and with family whilst also giving an authentic feeling to their reports
Today just reported that Alfred is no longer a cyclone.
Spencer Howson just said on ABC Brisbane that there are some issues with the ABC Gold Coast (91.7 FM) transmitter.
Now confirmed by the BOM via ABC Radio
Downgraded to a tropical low.
How long until we start getting the comments that the governments and the media have overhyped this? I don’t think they have by the way, all the warnings have probably saved countless lives. But can see it coming.
Weekend Breakfast coming from Melbourne this morning.
The Weekday team are on air.
Today and News Breakfast (main channel) are live into Adelaide this morning. Just saw the Qld’s Premier’s media conference
It was mentioned yesterday but I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem.
The only station that seems to have a problem is the community 94.1. Not off air but the bandwidth is really wide and possibly not at full power.
Agreed, this will further disenfranchise people from future warnings and say it was a beat up by the media.
I don’t get it personally, can never be too cautious with these things and it’s an evolving situation… anything can happen.
These would be the same people who would be first in line to complain adequate warning wasn’t given.
