Not sure the point of this? They’re standing in the rain, it’s wet and windy - they’ve been doing this for hours on end today. You’d surely get cold.

Fair enough, but in all fairness - the longer we wait, the worse the rain & winds will be because of it lingering.

Longer than usual closer from 10 tonight in QLD.
A couple of minutes of the 7 news theme this evening as they wrapped up its special coverage before the 6pm news. One of the best versions of the news theme in quite awhile.
The media like to hype things up, and while it’s good to ensure everyone is prepared for the worst, from reading the JTWC analysis, most models are in agreement that the storm is weakening and will continue to do so. The BoM has also been publishing their forecasts, since early this morning, with the storm being Category 1 prior to making landfall.
THE INTENSITY GUIDANCE IS IN GOOD AGREEMENT THAT
WEAKENING WILL OCCUR FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FORECAST DUE TO COOL
SEAS SURFACE TEMPERATURES, HIGH VERTICAL WIND SHEAR, AND

Just saying I’m sure there’s a reason for the 3 minute break…
Many of the reporters have put in long hours too… some moving locations.
Yes, there could be many behind the scenes things that would create the need for a 3-4 minute break to get ready for the main news bulletin.
Why not run a few station promos or comercials to fill in the time ?
Probably want to keep you watching.
Strap on screen said “7 news at 6 starts now”.
I did flick over to 9 at 5.58… they were running a news promo during TP which said “in 5 minutes”… they can’t count
