Cyclone Alfred - Coverage

The change over to Katrina was after the police media conference about a police shooting.

I think its more to do with the fact that yesterday everyone was planning for landfall sometime today/Friday and then the cyclone slowed down.

Perth still taking the feed from QLD with rolling coverage

Nobody watches 10 I don’t know why they even bother.

This is true. But given the recent slight increase in the news ratings, it’s great that they are doing rolling coverage.

10 in Adelaide left the rolling coverage at 4 pm (local time) and went to Neighbours. No warning, just a fade to black in the middle of a cross to Liz Cantor at Snapper Rocks.

Oh hey, someone at 10 noticed today’s coverage was labelled 10 News: Tracking Cyclone Alfred.

Only in the EPG I believe.

The press release was the same as the above yesterday, but also not really major in the scheme of things.

Seated a little too far apart I think. Could do with one of them at the desk for 6pm:

Update on ABC Radio coverage, it appears tonight’s overnights coverage will not happen due to the revised forecast, with it being removed from the Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast EPG’s, and North Coast, Mid North Coast, and Coffs Coast’s EPG’s listing Nightlife from 1am AEDT (12am AEST), and then Overnights.

Also the NSW stations in the impact zone are taking a shared Drive program with Cameron Marshall (Mid North Coast Breakfast presenter), instead of the Brisbane Drive program.

Ellen Fanning is hosting coverage until 7pm, with Kelly Higgins-Devine now starting then instead of at 6pm.

The news was their highest averaging program last night. Says a lot about their content. If they axed news then some nights they wouldn’t average above 300k

That’s nearly all the QLD newsroom except Matt K and Tim Collits. Pretty good they’ve replenished their reporting stocks.

The latest BoM advice is that landfall is now most likely on Saturday morning, to the north of Brisbane, so it’s going to be a lot of filler in their rolling coverage.

Completely unrelated, but can Alfred hurry up.
Twiddling my thumbs is rather boring here :sleepy:
Rolling news coverage won’t cure the boredom forever.

Matt voiced one of the first packages tonight but wasn’t seen I think, likely working behind the scenes I guess.

Tim did a package tonight on insurance ahead of the cyclone, maybe producing behind the scenes too.

Of note, sports reporter Josh Mclean on regular news reporting duties as seen tonight interviewing Qld premier David Crisafulli.

Don’t think we’ll see sport tonight.
