Big Brother

That was stated in the original media release from 10.

The news montage on the finale night was retained during the Nine Network run, read by Peter Overton

That was one of the best things the Aussies added to the format and a shame it wasn’t picked up widely by other countries.

The first season of the Channel Nine version of Big Brother was read by Peter Overton while the second season was read from memory by Peter Hitchener. I don’t know whether they did one for the third and final one as I never watched it i’m afraid.

Have there been any updates regarding the hold-back order, or whether 10 will be able to proceed with their planned revival?

Nothing has been affected as far as I am aware

Is it Melbourne based?

There was speculation it was to be done at Docklands or the Show Grounds.

Nothing has been confirmed.

That would be amazing. I would love to go see a live eviction.

So are you saying we know a lot about it we just don’t know where it is?

I agree that it would feel like a marathon and could backfire but I can’t see 10 not going for a 10 week minimum.

I personally don’t even like the fact 10 keep going back to this old formats.

Neither do I and I really feel like Big Brother is going to be a big bust. Even at 10 weeks is a huge worry. It just feels like desperation they either couldn’t find or afford a new big show to plug their schedule. Trotting out Reggie for a Celeb isn’t going to boost the show either.

Another thing if there are live streams 24/7 why even bother to watch Big Brother on 10 except for live noms or evictions. Nothing feels well thought out.

In the Gretel era, the Daily Show was obligatory viewing for the Mike Goldman narrated “storyline” of the show, summarising key events. You would also get to see Diary Room interactions of the HMs with Big Brother which were never shown on the live feeds.

the majority of people are normal and will not be watching the streams.

The streams are there for the super fan.

i have watched BB since the first season. I had the streaming but still watched the daily shows. i didn’t sit there all day and watch - the daily shows was a nice little wrap up of whats happened and what i missed.

I would simply go to one of the numerous pornography sites on the internet instead.

No it wasn’t. You had fans screen capping, recording feeds and transcribing. You could catch up without watching the daily show which tended to have bias on housemates and manipulate storylines anyway.

They aren’t going to have streams just for the super fans it wouldn’t be worth it. Most of the super fans would be pushing 40 - 50 surely so the would definitely want a set of younger eyes watching the streams.

I don’t know what to tell you - most fans were not doing that. Yes, there were some heavily invested fans but that is not how the majority of fans consumed the show.

Streams form part of the overall package and are a good extension to sell the surveillance aspect of it. But the numbers actually watching will be relatively low. They’ll be relatively cheap to pump out too.

They might have some success if they’re putting it on TikTok live etc and slicing and dicing content there before the daily show.
