61st TV Week Logie Awards 2019

The menu of an awards ceremony should have never been on the news. At best, mention it in the “entertainment report” in the morning shows.

Usually the Logies dinner menu is revealed in an issue of TV Week after the ceremony has been held. This has to be a first.

It worries me that you know this.

The story also showed inside the 3 penthouse suites - allocation not yet decided - and featured an interview with the GM of Star - it was almost like a Star Casino advert

you could delete the words “almost like”

Another reason why it was better to have the ceremony earlier in the year and for the programs eligible to have been broadcast in the previous calendar year.

Maybe next year, they should have an earlier cut-off for eligible programs to avoid so many of these problems. Maybe the end of non-ratings season and the official start of ratings periods in early February should be the cut-off date.

This is a strange post, especially since they boosted the post which appeared on my newsfeed on Facebook.

According to the Sunday Herald Sun, Tony Martin will return as the voice of the ceremony, while award presenters will include Hamish Blake, Andy Lee, Boy George, Kelly Rowland, Carrie Bickmore, Julia Morris and Sam Neill.

61st TV WEEK Logie Awards

STARS OF TV SET TO SHINE BRIGHT ON THE GOLD COAST

SUNDAY 30 JUNE FROM 7.00PM

A roll-call of the biggest names in Australian entertainment will descend on Queensland’s Gold Coast for the 61st TV WEEK Logie Awards on Sunday, June 30.

And viewers at home will have the best seats in the house when Nine broadcasts the star-studded ceremony, which will also be streamed on 9Now, LIVE across Australia from 7.00pm.

After making its Sunshine State debut last year, the prestigious Logies event returns to The Star Gold Coast to celebrate all that we love about Australian television.

The party kicks in with the red-carpet arrivals when hosts Sylvia Jeffreys , Leila McKinnon and David Campbell give you front-row access as TV’s favourite stars make their entrance to the eagerly anticipated annual awards ceremony.

At 7.30pm the formalities commence as Australia’s favourite programs and personalities are acclaimed for entertaining, informing and making us laugh over the past year.

Comedy legend Tony Martin returns as the voice of the Logies, while a cavalcade of stars will take to the stage in the Star Pavilion Ballroom to announce the honours. Among this year’s presenting lineup are:

Hamish and Andy , Boy George , Kelly Rowland , Rebecca Gibney , Sigrid Thornton , Carrie Bickmore , Kat Stewart , Tom Gleeson , Shaun Micallef , Georgie Gardner , Julia Morris , Costa Georgiadis , Peter Helliar , Richard Wilkins , Jane Kennedy , Mick Molloy , Tracy Grimshaw , Sam Neill , Sophie Monk , Amanda Keller , Bernard Curry , Todd Sampson , Edwina Bartholomew , Nicole da Silva , Ryan Corr , Grant Denyer , Scott Tweedie , Anton Enus , Rob Collins , Poppy Montgomery , Dan Wyllie , Andrew Winter , Dilruk Jayasinha , Dr Chris Brown , Dylan Alcott , Stephen Curry , Aaron Pederson and Leah Purcell .

Plus, the cast of Nine’s hit US comedy, Young Sheldon , will make a special guest appearance.

The party of the year also features an all-star lineup of music acts to perform live.

Multiple ARIA award winner and multiplatinum Australian singer/songwriter and actress, Delta Goodrem will roll out a show stopping performance when she takes to the Logies stage.

One of Australia’s most successful solo artists Guy Sebastian is also set to perform. The singer, songwriter and producer is the only Australian male artist to have ever achieved six number one singles and two number one albums in ARIA chart history. Guy will perform a medley of his hits for the TV WEEK Logie Awards audience.

Chart-topping singer, actress and Eurovision star Jessica Mauboy will perform a new song from her highly anticipated fourth studio album.

And American boy band Why Don’t We will perform their hit single, I Don’t Belong in This Club . The song, a surprise collaboration with Macklemore, has been streamed more than 70 million times globally, while Why Don’t We have amassed one billion streams worldwide to date.

Live voting for the most popular awards – including the Gold Logie – will reopen on Monday, June 24, and finish at the end of the TV WEEK Logie Awards red-carpet telecast on Sunday, June 30 .

The Australian is reporting that Karl Stefanovic was not on the official list of Nine attendees sent by Nine to the Logies organisers. However the paper claims he will definitely be there, but without wife Jasmine Stefanovic, and he will sit on the 60 Minutes table steering clear of the Today table.

Brave of Karl to front up considering he’ll likely be the butt of jokes throughout the night.

It’s a good thing the Logies isn’t held during schoolies week. I doubt Jasmine would’ve let him loose unaccompanied on the Gold Coast during schoolies lest someone younger catches his eye.

Here’s hoping there’s room on the Studio 10 table for Cass. The face off with Karl would rival the legendary Don Lane vs Ernie Sigley boozy Logies bout of 1986.

Tom Gleeson wants to win the Gold Logie as a joke, and his tactics have not impressed Amanda Keller.

The voting has re-opened and will run until just before the show starts on Sunday night.

To submit your vote you need to put your mobile number and a code will be sent through, however it also has the Australian country code (61).

Promo - “TV’s night of nights”.

This whole “is Karl invited, is he not” is a bit ridiculous. As a past Gold Logie winner, he’s guaranteed an invite from TV Week. Whether he chooses to accept or not is up to him.

Oh god, it’s just the Logies - “Live & Dangerous” is massively overselling it again.

Both appear in the Most Popular Presenter category.

Tom Gleeson said: “I can’t wait to fulfil my destiny by winning the Gold Logie. The ABC hasn’t won the Gold since 1976. A vote for me is a vote for the ABC. Voting re-opens June 24. GLEESON 4 GOLD.”

Costa Georgiadis said: “This is a great day for Gardening Australi a, ABC and gardeners of all ages. The birds are singing, the bees are buzz’n, the worms are wrigglin’ and the gnomes are a dance’n. ABC’s Gardening Australia has been the go-to fertiliser of inspiration for 30 years. What a birthday gift! Let’s Grow For Gold.”

The ABC’s crucial role in journalism and public affairs has been recognised through nominations that span Most Popular and Most Outstanding categories; with Four Corners, Australian Story and 7.30 all in the running for statues. Caro Meldrum-Hanna’s three-part investigation, Exposed: The Case of Keli Lane is nominated for Most Outstanding Factual or Documentary Program , alongside the multi-award winning series Employable Me .

ABC a bit late with this

Rather than ‘excitingly’ I would’ve thought they meant to say ‘embarrassingly’…

We don’t need any more of their rubbish paraded in front of us…ever again.
