I am not familiar with YouTube’s procedures but is it possible they’ve used AI and raised a false flag on behalf of that channel? (i.e. it may be automated and not manually triggered by the channel owner?) Probably wouldn’t hurt to reach out to the channel owner or seek an appeal to the flagged post.
Interesting comment about YouTube Strikes. I had a few copyright claims when I was on YouTube making general content but not anything like a strike. On a related note, where are the Radio Vault nowadays? I can’t find them ANYWHERE.
I’m also reminded of a similar situation. Adelphoi Music, the creators and I assume copyright holders of the Sky News theme music from 2005, filed a takedown for my upload of it years ago. It was back when YouTube was more strict with their handling of copyright infringement, so it resulted in the removal of my entire channel (WAtvVideos). Not long after, someone else uploaded the same copy of my video and it’s been up for over 11 years. No takedown. If I re-upload the same video, right now, on my newer WAtvMusic channel, it’s taken down within days. Make it make sense.
I would love to be proven wrong and to find out that it was simply a case of YouTube sending out the infringements without them being manually triggered, but my gut feeling tells me that the strikes were intentional.
ATA has an exact copy of the Channel Ten ident (the one that both Zampakid and I had taken down) on his YouTube channel. He also charges people a fee when they request to use his video restoration services. By taking down our videos, he is essentially eliminating the competition so to speak and trying to claim ‘exclusive’ rights to content that he is illegally claiming is his. It’s purely a dirty business tactic. By appearing to be the only person to ‘own’/have access to certain content, it’s more or less saying, “hey, I have this really rare recording in my possession that no one else has. That’s why you should do business with me”.
Zampakid and I both received a strike for the 1988 Channel Ten ident on the same day, yet there’s still plenty of videos of that exact same ident on YouTube. I feel like if it was a case of YouTube using AI to generically send out copyright strikes for that particular content, all of those videos would be removed from YouTube. ATA also followed me on X and I quite often share VHS recordings from my collection onto my social media pages, so there’s a good chance that he would have came across it by those means (despite the fact that I uploaded it over 5 years ago).
The Season Premiere of Patterson Cricket for 2026/27 will air on Monday August 10th 2026 in a Primetime Special for another Summer of Cricket on YouTube.
The Radio Vault has faded off into the sunset after that spectacular epic fail idea of their to charge for access to content that was officially not theirs. I’d like to think I’ve played a part in its demise and it’s that the case, then good.
Rob McKnight talked about this on his show last night.
I tried reaching out to James [Australian Television Archive] — he didn’t want to talk on the record, so I won’t reveal anything he said here.

Smells like dirty tactics imo. Disappointing.
James is well known for being fiercely protective when it comes to his business. You only need to read some of his Facebook posts to see the people he starts things with.
I don’t have any issue with him protecting his business - it’s his way of making a living after all - but submitting copyright claims over content that isn’t even his is not acceptable.
I’m one of the luckier ones who has had a fairly easy run on YouTube for the past 20 years. Just this week I had ITV drop a claim it tried to put on a TVW news blooper because they used it in one of their shows and they tried claiming it was theirs. I submitted a dispute saying it wasn’t theirs to claim and it was reversed.
Australian networks have generally been tolerant of what most of us do. Those who take it too far, like uploading full bulletins the same day they air, ruin it for everyone else and then seem surprised when the network’s claims end up taking down the whole channel.
The networks decide what they are and aren’t ok with. James does not get to do that and he needs to knock this off. He performs an important service, and spends a lot of money to do it, but the content he captures is not his to claim.
Seven sourced their content from ITV and NBC and I hope NBC or ITV don’t take down content
One Australian YouTube channel that I follow mentioned that they had received strikes from Umbrella Entertainment for posting full episodes of Number 96! What response did they think they were going to get from the current rights holder?!
In my recent case it was a TVW studio blooper showing only Rick, Sue, Monika and Mark Gibson. No ITV content at all.
ITV used the clip in a blooper show and tried to claim my video came from their show even though what I uploaded had video from before and after what they included and I had uploaded it before their show aired.
If Seven put a claim on it then that would be different but ITV can go away. It wasn’t anything of theirs.
Anyone watching the EDP445 documentary? Oh boy… ![]()
No ,but.we all make choices.
I’m assuming you are aware of what EDP445 did?
Probably a good idea that I’m not watching it. There’s a lot I would like to say about him but I’d be cancelled in a heartbeat.
Let’s put it this way…he should be in prison.
Some of the things they show in the documentary really really should not be put on film. ![]()
EDIT: This took me 2-3 sittings to get through. It was a slog. This creep should really be in prison. As someone who has many of the same health and relationship issues as him, obviously not including any attraction to kids (thank god), I feel no sympathy for him.
