Wow! I’m surprised that they’ve gotten rid of Dave McLenaghan, he’s been around for quite a while and seemed pretty good from my limit observations

Changes at WIN News Tasmania from this Monday evening. Melbourne’s Ten Eyewitness News will air at 5pm followed by a half hour local WIN News bulletin fronted by Lucy Breaden from Hobart. It also says it will be a ‘new-look’ bulletin.

Probably means that they will use the WIN news graphics and stay Tasmania centric with their own bulletin.

^^^good pickup.

Wow. The 5.30 experiment lasted all of 2.5 months.

I suppose quality over quantity comes into play here. Id rather watch a sleek half hour news than one with mismatched supers and graphics etc.

I’m guessing the “new look” will be something to bring it in line with WIN News’ various other regional bulletins on the mainland…

Although generally, somehow I’m not too surprised that the experiment with a 5.30pm composite bulletin in Tasmania has been shortlived. I think WIN really would’ve struggled to retain viewers especially during the 2nd/6pm half of the bulletin against the very strong rating Southern Cross News and (to a lesser extent) Nine News Melbourne on TDT.

Surely they’d be considering an Eyewitness News flavor by now?? It still baffles me as to how they still use the CHL music - it makes zero sense this far in.

I can’t help but think that it’s now only a matter of time until presentation and production of WIN News Tasmania moves to Wollongong. The age of the facilities and costs of production would make it a very similar case to the Victorian bulletins moving out of Ballarat, and Ballarat had 6 bulletins to spread their costs over!

I think WIN News Tasmania moved to new facilities only a couple of years ago?

Although in any case, I certainly wouldn’t put it past WIN to eventually move production/presentation of the Tasmanian bulletin to Wollongong to save costs!

Whoops, I was thinking of their Launceston premises, but of course unlike Southern Cross they do their news from Hobart, which yes, they moved into not that long ago.

They had a report on 60 years of TV tonight

From Monday 29 August Josh Minogue has been reading sport

Last bulletin for Dave McLenaghan was the previous Friday 27 August when Josh did the surf report and signed off “I’ll be back same place, same time next week”!

Dave was removed from the cover photos on WIN’s Rockhampton, Sunny Coast and Cairns Facebook pages on the 6th September. There are a few comments on all pages asking if he is coming back, but WIN’s social media interaction leaves a lot to be desired, so no response to any. I posed the same question to Sunshine Coast’s Twitter page with no response.

Coincidence?

Didn’t see the beginning but there was no mention at the end of of the Tasmanian WIN News about the new arrangements on Monday. The supers however did have the “First At 5:30” bit removed tonight and there was a promo later on “WIN News Tasmania, Weeknights 6pm, Weekends 5:30” but no indication that there had been a change really, so if people don’t notice the different time they’ll have no idea.

Great promotion of the change WIN.

Your most important show is moving timeslots AGAIN yet no promotion

And 6pm weeknights / 530 weekends is confusing - no?
