WIN News

Partly that, but I also think WIN want to maintain their independence as much as they can.

With all this talk of Bruce Roberts, I was amused when this clip popped up on my YouTube feed. It’s starts with a clip from Home and Away, and watch what happens after Bruce takes his red nose off!

Court and policing stories used to be the backbone of this bulletin but WIN seldom bothers with them since Nine pulled out of local news following the affiliation swap. Two major stories being covered on the Illawarra Mercury’s site didn’t rate a mention on WIN tonight. They’re covering cost of living and health stories that can be run outside the area instead.

At least they weren’t too cheap to buy Melissa Russell a bouquet of flowers before she heads off on maternity leave. Hopefully Bruce is back this week considering they’re running very low on experienced presenters. Given presenters regularly disappear without an on air farewell (Geoff/Amy), who knows if he’ll be back at all.

They now only have Bruce, Lincoln and Adam if needed.

Then there’s Ariana Gatti, who presents the Northern NSW updates. I wonder if Kristina Prentoska is still at the network?

Considering the proximity from Wollongong to Sydney surely there’s plenty of semi retired newsreaders or former Metro Reporters keen to get back into the game.

Maybe they won’t do it for a coffee and a Tim Tam though.

Hell, I’ll give it a go. I promise not to look away from the camera, and I can pronounce Unanderra correctly.

It is a great opportunity for these up and comers, but gee WIN’s pool is so shallow these days.

my brother lives in Cootamundra which watches the Riverina bulletin and they haven’t had much Riverina news now for weeks, its a blink and you miss it. Its like the Riverina doesn’t even matter to WIN.

Opener not attached to tonight’s edition of WIN News Illawarra. The OTS for that first mine story appeared during the intro to the second report on Free TV Australia.

Whoops, the video editor forgot the opener clip in his project file.

Did that mean the bulletin finished early, or did they manage to pad it out somehow with an extra promo in the break or similar?
