Would it even matter if no ones watching?

I was initially going to say home shopping, but thought, what would Bruce do???

It does ruin their primetime planning plans then.

Well doesn’t Bruce already do that… He aired Shaka Zulu a few weeks ago… Personally I think he is flexing his muscles in front of CBS and Ten management… And they are probably yawning and saying, yes Bruce, we have heard this all before … Isn’t this the one where you find a US talk show that no one in Australia wants to air consistently up instead of shows we source for you? Perhaps Jerry Springer, Jeremy Kyle, a new Australian talk show or maybe you might try to steal Harry away from Channel 9?

Whether he will or won’t go down the path of sourcing a talk show from overseas is yet to been seen, but we have seen it all before from Bruce.

Saw an update on twitter, for WIN News Border North East (Albury), presented by Melinda Russell, this is weird, I don’t think I have ever seen her before on our news. Sorry, I’m on an iPad so can’t get video, but here are a couple snapshots for evidence.

Ever since WIN “forced” to carry Ten, then followed by the big CBS purchase on the latter, Bruce became a crying baby retreating all his forces back to his home base. What’s next, ditching Eyewitness News and maybe WIN News then air 90 minutes of All Australian News every weeknight? Seems like Bruce’s threat of independence when he’s with Nine might come to a reality. :scream::scream::scream:

WIN News on at the extremely early time of 4.45 tonight in Queensland due to the BBL. A fifteen minute bulletin with Melissa Russell presenting. Statewide weather report also.

Canberra montage - shows leaving Ten News, going to update message, then bulletin starts:

First updates in the afternoon had the regular 6pm time on the super:

Then it was changed to “5.35m”:

Surely it would’ve been better to play the WIN News handover immediately after the last story on Ten News? Then viewers aren’t left with Ten’s “Coming Up” only to be cut off by WIN News.

Advertising isn’t quite right, I wouldn’t call this time night, more like it’s on “this afternoon” or at least evening

I saw it on twitter advertised by win news alb

Why does Bruce do it, then it changes to Geoff?

In SNSW (at least), the bulletin presenter doesn’t do updates until the later afternoon ones.

In the early afternoon Bruce Roberts or Tanya Dendrinos usually do them.

Geoff is probably filming WIN News bulletin for the regions he presents for before filming WIN All Australian News

As a side thought, I wonder how Ten News went in QLD up against National Nine Afternoon News, especially with Seven Afternoon News not being shown due to the Tennis

You may be surprised. A lot of political decisions have ramifications on both sides of the border. It would be like saying people In Albury have no interest in anything that happens in Victoria - or people in Tweed Heads are sick to death of Queensland politics.

One example in recent years of cross-border interest was the location of the Canberra jail - right near the border. Residents in NSW were very interested in that issue as protests went on for months and months.

In the 1990s the ACT government proposed a 10c deposit scheme on plastic bottles and aluminium cans - until someone pointed out everyone would drive 20 mins to Queanbeyan to buy cheaper slabs.

NSW State funding of schools and hospitals has a big ramification in the ACT, as people travel from NSW to Canberra to attend schools and hospitals. So any boost to Qbn hospital is a boost to ACT Health capacity.

Border towns are just like a big city. Do people in Sutherland really care about a council decision in Hornsby? Maybe they do, maybe they don’t. Seven will cover it anyway if it’s a big enough story. It about putting forth the stories that appeal to the biggest number of viewers.

As someone who lived in Canberra years ago myself, I can vouch for at least my own interest in NSW state politics from a Territorian’s point of view.
