Wide World of Sports

Sports Sunday is back in the studio for the first time in a while. They spent the last few weeks “on the road” (aka - at the venue of where the NRL matches were held in the afternoon). And were off air for a few weeks before that due to the Nine Cyber Attacks.

The set looks a little different though.

Still no ticker. Good to see them back in the studio. Doesn’t look that bad in the news studio.

Wow! Liz Ellis has aged!

That is Layne Beachley.

Nick McArdle is hosting the show today, while James Bracey is in Brisbane for the NRL Coverage this weekend.

McArdle has been the host for Nine’s/Stan’s Super Rugby season this year. So good to have him fill in here.

Nice article there.

Roz Kelly is hosting the show tomorrow (James Bracey away again). Craig Foster is on the panel. Nice. Is this the first time he will be on the panel?

Andy Everywhere Lee. His segment probably isn’t needed for a show like this! It’s already packed with crosses to Ariarne Titmus, Sam Groth and Shane Crawford.

Continuing in Melbourne from the point it was stopped for the press conference.

Sports Sunday will be shown live across Australia tomorrow (Sunday) for NRL Grand Final Day.

Good to see the show air live across the country. It used to air on a two hour delay in the AFL States when the Sunday Footy Show aired.

And good to have a tribute for Peter Sterling during the show.
I also dont mind Roz Kelly as the host of the show. She’s done well overall in the last few weeks as host.

Of course the show is only live today because of the Grand Final; back to normal next week.

This morning, the show opened up with an interview with Mark Taylor. He wasn’t in the studio - it was a live feed to him (he was in northern NSW). Taylor was shown on screen, but they barely showed the hosts, which was odd. There was also lot of cricket footage on top on the screen.

When the interview finished, the hosts were sitting on the couch, rather than the usual round table. EDIT: they are now on the desk (10.30am).

Technical issues, or just simply trying something different?

Probably not, but wondering if there was a clash with Stan Sport’s rugby presentation, although that should have finished well before

Season Final today. Bracey hosted alongside Taylor, Foster and Ellis.

The show returns this Sunday at 10am (looks likes it is in all markets).

Will probably air at a later time once the AFL season starts. Nine has aired The Sunday AFL Footy Show at 10am and Sports Sunday at 12pm like in previous years? And remain at 10am in Sydney and Brisbane.
