Wonder if the return of WWOS could see a refreshed sports opener alongside it.
The current WWOS opener has been used for a few years already.
Pretty sure it was at the start of the 2013 NRL season.
Think they continued the heavy blue look, which launched in 2008 when the dots came back, throughout the rest of 2012 and the 12/13 summer of cricket. The London Olympics had no WWOS branding associated with it.
The WWOS billboard launched on the day 9 dropped the dots and lasted until 14 January 2008 with the dark blue look
So Sports Sunday is canceled?
Renamed.
Reverted to WWOS as what I said
WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS
RETURNS THIS SUNDAY
SUNDAY, MARCH 3, AT 10.00AM
Nine’s Wide World of Sports is back in 2024 with its outstanding Sunday panel, starting at 10.00am this Sunday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Host Roz Kelly is joined by former Australian cricket captain Mark Taylor, Australia’s most successful paralympian, Ellie Cole, and Geelong Cats AFL great, Jimmy Bartel.
We cross live to Las Vegas for the NRL season opener to get the vibe of the historic venture to the United States, with Brad Fittler and Johnathan Thurston live at Allegiant Stadium, while resident sports lover Brad Blanks finds out what Americans think and know about rugby league.
And in a huge Olympic year of big-name guests from across the globe, Wide World of Sports will welcome the biggest name in skateboarding, Tony Hawk, in a special feature interview looking back at his incredible career and previewing the skateboarding competition at the Games in Paris.
Sydney 10.00am on Channel 9 and 9Now
Melbourne 10.00am on Channel 9 and 9Now
Brisbane 10.00am on Channel 9 and 9Now
Adelaide 10.00am on Channel 9 and 9Now
Perth 10.00am on Channel 9 and 9Now
Have they stopped mentioning HD in their releases now?
We all know 90 is 9 HD and 95 is 9GemHD and there is no need to mention
“We”'as in Media Spy members = yes.
“We” as in most of the general public = no
The fact that LCN 9 is still the SD channel is a case in point.
The great Wide World of Sports logo is back
Closed with old promo
Those were the days. Saturdays tuning in from noon through to 5pm and the sports Sunday (magazine format) from 4-6. Quintessential Nine back in the day.
Did they leave out the 2006-07 opener? lol
Someone forgot to turn on the tv’s behind the panellists, usually showing the “Wide World of Sports” banner. They are showing close up of the people at the desk, rather than a long shot.
edit: The screens turned on after their first commercial break.
Paralympian Kurt Fearnley is a panellist.
