Watermarks

The font in the Amazon Prime Video watermark makes the “prime” text look eerily similar the Prime watermark that existed in regional areas in the 1990s.

This was my first exposure to watermarks in Australia, so it does not bring back happy memories.

Not sure if this has been the case for long, but just noticed that 7 has a watermark animation, whereby the 7 PRG graphic will reveal the normal full 7 watermark (as per usual) THEN 5 seconds later, that morphs into a smaller 7 watermark with the Olympic rings underneath… is that morphing animation new?

Sounds new. The last one I saw was no watermark at start of program or under the PRG, then a few seconds after the PRG faded out the Olympics watermark faded in.

I had spotted this new watermark animation a few weeks ago, but didn’t mention it for some reason in retrospect.

There was also the same animation during the lead up to Rio 2016 in Network promos:

First time I’ve seen it, good to see some creativity once in a while than the usual mediocrity.

It’s definitely been like that for a few months. I’ve seen it for a while now. Seems to have been drifting in and out of use though. Or maybe I just haven’t been paying very much attention whenever I’ve watched Seven

We used to see that kind of creativity regularly on 10 - Santa hat at Christmas, tigers and crocodiles for I’m A Celeb, flaming marsh mellows for Masterchef…

I wonder why they don’t do that kind of thing anymore?

Is is possible that network cutbacks have resulted in the brains behind Ten’s more creative presentational elements being shown the door?

WIn really cannot be bothered anymore can they?

That sounds like a 10 issue in not supplying a clean feed?

They never have.

Was MotoGP meant to be on/on just before/after?

No, the Home Shopping thing went on for a few stints after this one.

Wouldn’t it be WIN’s fault for not using that ugly solid red thing to cover up the 10 logo?

Probably yes! If there wasn’t meant to be a clean feed, as someone else has pointed out.
