The company said, âNexstarâs owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the foreseeable future beginning with tonightâs show. Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.â
Now Disney has pulled the show.
Fucking cowards.
That shows Kimmel is 100% right with his remarks.
While Charlieâs murder is unacceptable, it is serious if we cannot analyse (and even criticise) some of his views and comments.
is it about this monologue? tbh I hardly think that warrants bumping the show
We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.
If you look at the quote in isolation, it is absolutely fine.
Not even 24 hours after the shooting and loads of X tweets have pinned the blame on Democrats/âradical leftâ. Even Trump did that in a national address that night.
The stage is now set. You cannot point out Kirkâs destructive own words, but can declare homeless people be murdered.
Thatâs Trumpâs second term for you.
And then FCC chairâŚ
They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest.
Excusez-moi?
Seriously? Everyone is bending over backwards for the MAGA freaks and stroke the mutant orangeâs ego. Itâs a comedy show for goodness sake! Who cares what Kimmel says about Kirk? Itâs not like he incited a riot or tried to overthrow democracy or something.
For a group that constantly complains about the âleftâ being snowflakes, the right getting offended by Kimmel being Kimmel is super rich.
Oh wah wah wah. Screw you Disney. Screw you Nexstar (and Sinclair). Just because you have to please the Putrid Pumpkin to keep growing your own evil co-operating empires.
Kimmel should make good on his threat, move to Italy (or Europe), get someone to co-produce the show and do it online.
iâd never heard of Charlie Kirk before his death but on seeing some of the things he said I think they are far more offensive and detrimental to society than what Kimmel has said. The media (and the US government) painting Kirk as some sort of saint is really galling.
Iâm shocked but I shouldnât be surprised. This from a country that loves to go on about free speech being one of the hallmarks of its existence, and yet now if you say anything about this one person, youâre out.
All of the late night shows should move to online streaming and tell the networks where to go. This is not a good sign of where things are going.
The irony is that Disney is seen as a family friendly oriented company but their movies are full of innuendos and beastality.
Never liked Jimmy Kimmel never thought he was family , not sorry to see him go. I saw his comment it was poor taste. Donât think it warranted a complete wank overreaction. Suppose they have to opprse the mighty overlords at Disney .
If you compare this to the Roseanne tweet firestorm back nearly 9 years ago I would say that monkey comment she had made was much more of an outrage then say this one.
Surely they could have just taken off the air for a week and then he could return.
And as usual the right are gleeming in this of course.
But he had a right to say it and engage debate something that the left does not want to do, the left want to tell you how to feel and what is right and go against your belief.
i wasnât denying his right to say things but i think his commentary from what iâve seen was far more inflammatory that what Kimmel has been taken off-air for.
it seems there is no engaging debate allowed anymore unless it pleases Trump and MAGA.
And so did Charlie Kirk.
He preached about his brand of Christian Conservatism and then shot down anyone who had a different view as some sort of âWoke SJWâ and called them a threat to society. As a Christian I think heâs completely misrepresented what the values of Christianity are and I wouldnât call him one of ours.
That was tame compared to what I heard on The Daily Show with Desi the other night. I donât see the harm in the joke when Trump was the one who responded by talking about his construction.
Canât wait for the day Trumpy gets cancelled permanently.
