US Late Night Shows

It’s yet another example of the hypocrisy which exists on both sides of the political spectrum in relation to different issues.

In this case, the right rails against ‘cancel culture’ yet (as evidenced on Sky After Dark on a regular basis) those concerns go out the window when they want to go after someone who doesn’t align with their poltical views.

Did Jimmy Kimmel write that monologue himself or with a group of writers?

It will also be interesting to see how Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert will respond (or not).

With the way things are right now it is safer for them to remain silent. Even though Colbert is on the way out he wants to actually see it out. Of course they should be able to show support (if they wanted to) but I worry that would earn them the same fate. None of this is good.

That would be so anti-him. If anything, everything will be dialed up to 12.

The news broke shortly after the 6:30pm taping so don’t look out for it to be mentioned tonight.

Will be tomorrow though.

From what I saw of his videos he didn’t tell you to believe what he believed but be open to different ideas and be challenged on some views. Which is for enough in. Debate, but no longer can we do that though because the stain of free speech has been tainted with we don’t want to have a debate from the left because you are wrong. I have not seen that with Charlie’s videos, but other conservatives podcasts I have seen thsr behaviour.

I guess we see things different , especially as I’m a Christian too. thanks for sharing .

Entirely different you can’t compare whats happened here to Trump.

Deadline understands that ABC pulled the show from the air after Kimmel told them he would address his previous comments around Charlie Kirk.

You cannot be f-king serious.

What the hell is this? Like… really?

Have we hit enough new lows for the day yet?

we have to remind ourselves that this is the actual president, not some 12-year-old kid?

Over on the JKL YT channel, the official last video was a sponsored piece done by Guillermo with Kit Kat.

…Until about one hour after the cancellation news.

The bots swarmed it enough in the comment section that that video has to be deleted, so now the final video is the final interview. (Don’t worry, there’s the bots again.)

I know YT comment section isn’t representative of the society at large, but still absolutely nauseating.

The wild (but also not surprising) thing about all this is the MAGA side (and lots of media) raving as if Jimmy said comments about Charlie Kirk, when the comments were actually about MAGA’s reaction - not Kirk himself. Sad state of discourse.

Sinclair Broadcast Group says ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ will not return until “appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform.”

They also call on Jimmy Kimmel to issue a public apology and make a donation to Charlie Kirk’s family and Turning Point USA.

It’s a day when both ABCs are screwed in some way.

Fucking bullshit. I guarantee if things were flipped, and he was a conservative saying this about a dead liberal, he’d be getting a raise right now. ABC are fucking weak.

That is not true because ABC did not have a history of bending the knee.

Wait a minute…

The saddest thing is that ABC will continue to attract massive viewership, at least on the weekend due to a substantially high-profile sports inventory powered by ESPN.

Several commentators have mention that Nexstar are is trying to get a $6.2bn merger with Tegna approved

Colbert got pulled so that Paramount can merge with Skydance.

Sense a pattern here?

Keep in mind, Sinclair is a right wing company owned by a far right owner who regularly forces local stations to air biased reports.

Asking Kimmel to donate to a right-wing political advocacy group is insane.

Here’s the guest list that should have been on-air tonight.

But no, and I don’t think there was even a taping session today either.

There definitely was an all-staff meeting (if not today, tomorrow), and who’s to say what the next step is?

This story even caused a live blog on the Guardian. Let me say it again, the cancellation of an US late-night comedy show caused a live blog on the Guardian.
