TV Week

yes, but it’s HOME AND AWAY’S MUST-WATCH WEEK!!!@1!!!

It’s a magazine for old people who watch Home and Away, yet it elicits shock and awe every week.

i am an old person but I have never watched Home And Away

Maybe the magazine isn’t for you then?

i read other articles, coverage and features but the slavish and fawning coverage of Home And Away is really annoying

See, this is the problem with failing media in this country. They think a magazine is for old people who love Home and Away and neglect everyone else. But then they wonder why everybody elses has abandoned the magazine. Pinning all their hopes on one show.

Same goes for radio. Rather than try to pick up new listeners, we’ll just cater for the rusted-on oldies because young people don’t listen to radio rather than adjust content to include the younger listeners.

Also, regular television. Young viewers prefer YouTube and streaming so we’ll ignore them and just produce stuff for the oldies. Then we’ll wonder why nobody is watching at all.

As of this latest issue, Amber Giles is the new editor. She is marked down as “Editorial Director”, which she also does for WHO Magazine. In cross cutting, I assume she will look after both magazines now.

Nothing new to report with changes, as it is only week one. Will see if there’s small changes in coming weeks. Fingers crossed.

with some exceptions, legacy media has just given up. For too many operators it’s all too hard to try and increase their audience or footprint, they just seem to accept that it’s game over and it will just gradually chip away to nothing and will the last one out turn off the lights.

This isn’t the fault of editors, but TV Week like its sister magazines has had numerous opportunities to expand its digital offering to report breaking news or day-to-day stories or generate some sort of engagement, but instead seems happy to just sing to the choir of H&A fans with its print product. A dreadful waste of what has been one of the most iconic magazine brands in this country.

Big spread of shows this week - Vera, Scrublands, The Floor, MasterChef, 1% Club, and even Cheap Seats and of course H and A.

Vera deserves the cover but I think they need a cover for The Cheap Seats sometime too.

They had a photo shoot and interview with the cast of Scrublands last week. I think it was a missed opportunity not to have them on the cover last week.

Also, maybe a composite cover featuring game show hosts: Jim Jefferies and Rodger Corser.

And a Taskmaster cover Tom Gleeson, Tom Cashman and Tommy Little.

Vera would be most popular with their readership.
