Sam gets the cover this week + 40th birthday for Neighbours
So much disrespect and disregard to Neighbours. Couldn’t even give them a cover.
Neighbours should’ve been made in U.K it’s much more popular there than here.Since the end of 1999 Australia especially Network Ten have treated Neighbours like Rubbish that goes in a bin.Why can’t Australia sustain 2 Soap Operas anyway?
It wouldn’t be Neighbours if it was made in the UK. Very difficult to recreate the whole show in a different country with the same cast and houses.
Soapies are having trouble keeping audiences all over the world. There’s so much more competition from streaming services these days.
In the US, they once had 20 daytime soaps but now there are only five. NBC has actually dropped Days of our Lives and it is now streaming on Peacock.
In the UK, it was interesting to note that Eastenders celebrated its 40th birthday too recently. I was reading the show still has 2-3milion viewers in 2025 but this is down from a record 30 million back in 1986. Other soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street have recently announced a cut from 5/6 episodes per week to 4 later this year.
Hollyoaks was dropped from Channel 4 in 2023. It is now available to stream in the morning and screens at 7pm on a multichannel E4, much like Ten did with Neighbours on 11. Casualty also remains in daytime but two daytime soaps were axed recently: Doctors 2024, Holby City 2022. Also, a couple or regional soaps still going with River City in Scotland and Pobol y Cwm in Wales.
Emmerdale and Coronation Street are going from 6 to 5 episodes next year, not 4.
“I’m Not the Same Person.” Is Ada revealing she’s had some work done?
Looks like they’ve moved back to majority Home and Away covers again with three out of the last four.
Father Brown, which began its 11th season on ABC TV on Saturday, is on the cover this week.
Strange choice but at least it’s not H&A this week.
and they had famous H&A alumni Isla Fisher right there, how they resisted to give her the cover I don’t know

Not sure when this will become effective. Or what it will mean to TV Week. Will Stephen Downie just become an editor (rather than editor in charge) and perhaps write some articles? Will we see any noticeable changes to the mag?
Hopefully his obsession with Home and Away does not continue.
We can only hope so.
Sandra Sully on the cover this week.
must be a really dull week in Summer Bay
What a horrible cover.
We need a cover photo of Mel and Tim from The Cheap Seats for its return.
