TV show ideas

You could go a step further than you have suggested and be a general sports personalities show and call it Our Sporting Greats and have a rotating roster for the show. It could be a half hour chat show similar format chatting with a sporting great (or family and friends of the sporting great if the personality is deceased), showing a chat in various locations, eg a cafe, a sports ground or their home environment, plus some clips of their sporting careers. The show could be 1 hour in length.

During Winter either Luke Darcy or Matt Shirvington could host.

During Summer, Michael Slater or Mel McLaughlin

I did have another idea which may work for Seven, especially with the increased exposure on women’s sport on national TV.

A new magazine style program called Sportswoman. It could be a program that not only reports strictly on Women’s sport, but also feature profiles women in sport.

Possible timeslots could be midday Saturday (NSW/Vic/Qld/Tas) or 11am Sunday.

In either scenario, now that I have thought on it, Sportsworld should air 9am and Saturday and Sunday with The Morning Show following on Saturday and on Sunday a new program called Our Sporting Heroes. At 11am Kochies Business Builders followed by Face To Face at 11:30

Good Morning Australia - new breakfast show for Channel 10 in 2021
Weekdays, 5:30am-9:00am (head to head with Today and Sunrise)

Hosts: Melissa Doyle and David Speers
News: Narelda Jacobs
Sport: Tim Gilbert
Weather: Grant Denyer
Entertainment: Angela Bishop

(Studio 10 would be axed if this show comes to fruition).

Basically this show is just a carbon copy of Sunrise and Today because anything different Ten try will just tank, so the main drawcard setting them apart from Seven and Nine will be Melissa Doyle, and to a lesser extent Kitty Flanagan.

There will be 1/2 hourly news, sport and weather updates with the relevant presenters, like we see on Sunrise and Today.

The show will come out of Network 10’s Pyrmont Studios in Sydney.

Really?

Yeah I doubt he’d go back to Ten after they made him redundant but I reckon he worked quite well with Mel when they presented the Afternoon News back when they were both at Seven.

Another name I’d throw into the hat for male co-host is Matt Doran.

I wanted someone who could bring some comedic value like Sam Mac and Kitty would
do that - although it may be logistically too hard for her to do considering she goes on shows, tours etc.

Hilarious.

I’m happy to give you all a few laughs this evening :joy::joy::joy:.

But in all seriousness, if Ten wanted to give it a go in the breakfast market - what do you think they could do?

Test pattern?

A radio station simulcast?

What about Grant Denyer? He has done breakfast TV before, I know it was only weather segments, but he is employed by Ten already

One possible presenter if they could poach him from 7Qld, would be Rob Brough, current 7 regional news host. His links to the federal coalition through his brother Mal, could assist in getting politicians on the show. They might be able to say have a weekly stoush between the federal treasurer and opposition treasurer

If they revived GMA, they could do it Monday to Thursday and screen a sports breakfast show on the other days or shorten Fridays show (ending at 7am with a sports show at 7am.

Possible title The Sports Panel. Using some of their sports presenters to be on the panel.

He presents 7 local news in Qld and once hosted family feud on 7

I know who he is (who on MS doesn’t) but he’s really an interesting choice.

I’ll make a few adjustments to who I originally thought the presenters should be should Ten enter the breakfast market:

  • David Speers to host the program alongside Mel instead of Matt White
  • Tim Gilbert to become sports presenter (guilty or not guilty, hiring Ryan Phelan would probably be too controversial for now, but I certainly wouldn’t rule it out down the track)
  • Grant Denyer to become weather presenter

He would never go back after the last time he did it.

Yeah true, I remember at the time that he was told that if he continued the hours he was doing he ā€œwouldā€˜ve died.ā€

Perhaps increasing his pay packet, giving him more time off and having the majority of weather segments done in NSW may make the role more appealing to him.

I reckon there should be a show where idiots can just ring in and prank call the host, who would just go off the deep end.

A show similar to this:
