TV show ideas

I didn’t put in r previous post that ACA needs to start screening more hard hitting current affairs and move softer magazine style stories to a new show. This program could air at around 10:30 pm weeknights on 9GEM

I just had a thought based on the Nine Melbourne schedule (Nine News Home Edition).

Pillow Talk - A program filmed in a bedroom using a laptop and video technology. Have a reasonable looking female host - this would be an advice show ( Think Dear Abby columns or Beauty and the Beast without the whole panel)

Sports Today
Channel 7

Sports Today would air on Seven on Monday’s and Friday’s from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, with The Chase UK permanently staying at the 2pm slot. Border Security and Highway Patrol re-runs can fill the 3pm slot from Tuesday to Thursday.

Basically the show recaps all the latest local and international sports news. Local sports news would include the latest AFL, NRL, A-League, Cricket and Tennis news amongst others.

There will also be interviews and live crosses to local and international sporting stars to get their take on the latest sports news.

The show would be produced from Seven’s Martin Place Studios in the same area of the set which The Daily Edition used to occupy.

The host will be who ever is presenting sport on Sydney’s Afternoon News that day - so Mel McLaughlin (Monday) and Matt Shirvington (Friday). Michelle Bishop or Matt Carmichael will make an appearance at the start and the conclusion of the program with a 7NEWS Update, but it will only feature sport stories.

Nothing happens on Tuesday to Thursday.

That’s true in some sense, more so for the winter sports such as AFL and NRL, but sports like the cricket and the tennis can run on any days of the week.

What I might actually do is change the program’s days so it only airs on Mondays and Fridays, as it would get the best content on those days.

Yeah. I personally would love a show everyday, there wouldn’t be enough to sustain 42 minutes.

Might want to go with a slightly different name, too similar to 10’s Sports Tonight (I know that it doesn’t air anymore, but it might still be an issue).

I thought of that issue too, but I thought I’d keep it as Sports Today to rub it in to 10 that they don’t have Sports Tonight airing anymore

Note Seven Sydney had a show called Sports Today prior to 1988 screening at 6:45pm weeknights

I actually don’t mind your idea BUT… I think the timeslot is wrong

Alternate idea

2pm The Chase
3pm Afternoon News
4pm The Chase Australia
5pm Sports Today 1 hour Monday and Friday, half hour Tuesday to Thursday with either Today Tonight at 5:30 Tuesday to Thursday or a game show such as Wheel of Fortune

30 years ago? No-one would remember/associate it.

Yes, but i am simply pointing out that Seven would most likely use that argument if Ten tried take action over the use of the name

Re, Sports Today: Wouldn’t Nine Radio most likely own that trademark? Pretty sure it was used on 2UE and 3AW in the not too distant past anyway…

They could just call it Seven Sport World or Seven Sportsworld.

Saturdays and Sunday could be called Sportsworld Weekend or simply Sportsworld

If they did another name could be Sportworld Daily

Lewis Black sums up my idea nicely…

Sporting Life
Sporting Life is similar in format to League Life, Australia’s first all-female sports panel show. Basically the new show delivers topical discussion and plenty of debate as the women offer their unique perspective on the world of sport. Weekly guests and features will also be featured.

The Chat with Luke Darcy
Sundays 10:00am-11:30am
Channel 7

NOTE: Will go head-to-head with Sports Sunday on Nine

Basically Luke Darcy speaks to old AFL greats of the game (and some current names too), and really digs deep to ask the questions that haven’t been asked about their career and personal life before.

The show would be set outside of the relevant AFL ground of the city/state the player lives in (i.e. if he interviews Luke Hodge, the interview would be set outside the GABBA). They will also sit in a local cafe/restaurant at some point during the interview too, in addition to being outside the grounds, to help promote small businesses after the pandemic.

To fill the 90-minute timeslot, two people will be interviewed in each episode.

It will be on 7 too, I was trying to convey the point that it will be shown on standard definition and high definition.

I have edited my post to reflect that.
