TV Commercials

Does anyone know who the actress in this KFC ad is?

Why do you ask?

It is because I have seen her in a different ads and wanted to know who it was

Here’s a couple of earlier ads from when it was AUWPC, which used the same jingle.

Credit to @Zampakid for uploading both versions of the ad.

Does anyone else like seeing the local variations in graphics for the chain store ads?

In recent weeks I’ve seen an ad for a blinds company in both Sydney and Melbourne with different store location graphics being the only difference between the two ads (as below).

When I was in Perth recently, I noticed a lot more local businesses advertising on 7, 9 and 10 compared to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane… (Adelaide was similar to Perth, and all regional TV in each state is similar to this as well).

Which leads me to suspect that the national advertisers are only really interested in spots on TV in SYD/MEL/BNE leaving local advertisers to fill spots elsewhere?

On a similar point, whenever I’m up on the Central Coast (as I have family living there), I’ve noticed that 9NBN Central Coast, as well as Newcastle (since they can also get the Mt Sugarloaf signals), don’t have much local ads. In fact, they probably have less local ads than even the Adelaide & Perth commercial channels, which is a little bizarre, since they’re the only station to have a local TV news bulletin.

Since you can get 9NBN Central Coast at your home location @Radiohead, you’ve probably noticed this too?

Also, when watching both 9NBN’s side-by-side, they mostly run the same ads simultaneously, only differing by one or two ads per break.

Yes, 9NBN Central Coast is mostly Newcastle ads, with the odd Central Coast ad here or there (mostly aimed at seniors, like adjustable beds, caravans, and retirement homes!).

Which is still better than 7 (ex Prime) Central Coast, they rarely seem to have Central Coast ads, and is mostly the same ad feed as Newcastle but in a different order.

I am looking for an ad I remember seeing sometime in the late 2010s. The ad was for a company with (what I think was) a kangaroo mascot. It was a (rather cheap-looking) 2D animation and had a somewhat Hanna-Barbara-like vibe to it. Does anyone know what ad I’m talking about?

During the Golf this afternoon on Channel Nine (Sydney) there was an ad for a Christmas decorations shop at Ferntree Gully (in Melbourne) with the suburb name on screen and mentioned during the ad. Possibly a playout error?

Not often you see an interstate ad like that on Sydney TV… happens a fair bit in regional areas where ads for businesses at the other end of the viewing area are aired hundreds of kms away.

Was there a mention of a website?

Seems like it may not have been a playout error as you can purchase items from their website. But they also have two physical locations in Melbourne.

You can do that with most business these days… so I don’t see why this is any different… I would have thought there’d be similar stores in Sydney.

Sure and some may also advertise out if market so people are aware of the company. There are few specialist Christmas shops in Australia and it looks to be a seasonal store that would only be open a few months before Christmas and open maybe a few weeks after. Given that it makes sense to advertise out of region and also the fact that you can purchase items online.

I thought they went bust. Is Toys R Us just used as a brand within Macy’s department stores?
