Agree. As I’ve said before, they need someone a bit older who is familiar with some of the older music they’re now playing and will know how to pronounce the names of the artists.
Heard ‘Fade to Grey’ by Visage played a few months ago and the announcer pronounced the name as ‘Viz-idge’ rather than ‘Viz-aaarge’. An experienced announcer wouldn’t known the correct pronunciation.
Well Phil is still on at the moment. Brisbane will Have Nashy, not sure about Melbourne. Higgo can also be heard floating on GOLD104.3 and Power FM Ballarat.
Triple M’s Dangerous Dave Williams will be Ugly Phil’s replacement on the syndicated My Generation. He’ll continue as anchor of the Kennedy Molloy drive show.
Not to mention the fact that MMM Sydney have Friday Night Footy most weeks kicking off at 6 (Bye rounds over the Origin period excepted) and MMM Melbourne have their footy commitments.
Triple M Aussie and Triple M Modern are simulcasting in Melbourne this arvo. I’ve noticed the last few weeks songs have been played close together but songs and ads both the same today. Not sure how modern Living in the 70s, Green Limousine and Crazy see. Have they dropped Modern and missed the memo?
I can assure you having tried to listen to the 7PM nights show (lasted 20 minutes before I had to concentrate on making cookies), the voice was more like the bloke who used to do the warnings on SBS (nudity was his buzzword) than Richard Mercer.
Hmmm… I really hope music royalties are not driving Triple Ms programming.
Though it should be noted that of the FM commercials, only Triple M that has gone down this path of more talk less music. Thankfully other stations haven’t done so.
As they are still bottom of the FM pile in Sydney, I do think this strategy needs a rethink.
EDIT: As for a Saturday night programming idea, bring back “105 in a row”!
