Triple M Network

Eddie apologised via a video on Collingwood website on Monday evening. The club board met late yesterday and condemned Eddie’s initial joke.
Richmond has since decided to boycott Triple M for this weekend, including the Saturday afternoon AFL match against Brisbane. Forward Jack Riewoldt said on Fox Footy last night the boycott was a no-brainer and praised his teammates for taking a strong stance on women’s rights.

Is everyone else thinking that this new promo with Paulie passing away and giving away all his old triple m prized is a massive promo stunt. Was born in 1980 and the promo starts on his birthday, coincidence?

I had the same thought.

If it is all just a publicity stunt it’s in poor taste even by my low brow standards.

It just all lines up to well plus he kept his “prizes” in Kennards storage who happen to be advertised for the giveaway

For the first time in a long time, I saw ad on telly tonight promoting Triple M! (Sydney)

It was for The Grill Team brekky show (with Gus, MG and Matty Johns).

Aired halfway through Nine News.

The ad wasn’t all that impressive though - it was definitely aimed straight at Boganland.

I wonder how similar (or not) the ad is to this one from 2011?

Aside from maybe an ad for Triple M NRL coverage in 2013, the most recent TV ad for Triple M that I remember seeing!

Yep, pretty similar to that!

Did Roy and HG do a show today? The podcast isn’t up yet.

ETA: looks like it is up now.

Not sure if it started today or earlier, but 2MMM in Sydney are now doing the “9 O’Clock List” at 9am weekdays, where they play the top 5 songs of a particular category. Today, they were doing the greatest bassists.

Triple M Melbourne has been doing a similar thing at the same time for a while now. Only difference is it’s a ‘Top 7 List’

For the very little it’s worth, here’s the current version of 104.9 Triple M’s “The Grill Team” breakfast show ad currently airing on Sydney TV:

Virtually identical to the 2011 ad previously posted. Probably about time that they produced a completely new ad for Triple M (rather than just a slightly different voiceover and team shot at the end!), especially since it’s not even in native HD unlike the current/recent ads airing for SCA’s other Sydney station!

Now there’s an ad that clearly identifies its target market. Low IQ males whose lifestyle will lower their life span.

So true. I just can’t with Triple M anymore. It’s just so bogan I can’t listen. Contrast that with how Absolute Radio or Radio X in UK position themselves and sound. It’s so depressing it’s like from another age.

I reckon in the next Census they should get you to tick whether or not you:
a) Like rock music
b) Are a bogan

My guess would be:

  • Like rock music: 31% yes
  • Are male: 49%
  • Are male bogan: 9% yes

Talk about alienating your audience. In Sydney I reckon Triple M’s targeting of bogans benefits WSFM the most.

Don’t forget…
c) like BBQ’s
d) eat LOTS of meat

Which network used this commercial in Australia? I only have the UK version - where an “exercise deprived” individual attempts to dance to the music of the station with the tag line “listen now or next time he’s naked”

Found one version on YT but not the way I remember - it was MMM though.

well, i should be dead by next week then.

2MMM have been doing a “9 O’Clock List” at 9am weekdays for at least two weeks now. A fortnight ago, they were doing a “Top 10 Greatest Guitar Solos” countdown, if I remember correctly.
