Absolutely. The bloke doesn’t like women’s sports. He could have gone about it a bit better but that’s basically the nuts and bolts of it. He’s allowed an opinion and he’s paid to say it.

Looks like the Marty Sheargold show Instagram account has now been deleted. I wonder if they will soon start deleting the podcasts to avoid further controversy.

Much as it very non PC to say, reality is that men’s sport attracts much bigger audiences, and therefore broadcast revenues, than its women’s equivalents.
Sheargold clearly overstepped the mark. Had it been a one-off, he may have been able to ride it out, but he had a few runs on the board in terms of poor behaviour and maybe this was the final straw. Sought of like Lawrence Mooney sacking of a few years ago, was the culmination of a number of indiscretions.
But there is certainly a pile on, the guy has paid a heavy price, that should be the end of it. The SMH’s Peter Fitzsimions, who jumps on the bandwagon of every woke cause, was amongst those to join in . Bet if somebody went through the tapes from his days on 2SM and 2WS with Doug Mulray in the 90s, there would be some content that wouldn’t pass muster.

I agree. Marty is normally pretty good at wrapping a joke up and saying he doesn’t mean it. Which some might not consider enough but then he usually will give a fair editorial explaining his relatively tolerant (and often left-leaning) point of view. But in these cases regarding endometriosis and the Matilda’s he did not do this.
I believe he does support women’s sport somewhat but soccer (men’s or women’s) is a sour point for him in general and he regularly rants about how the A-League should be cancelled.
May have been a decade ago, but there was another presenter who was on air on Triple M as recently as last year who used to express similar opinions, albeit without the vulgarity.
Seems like this is just the straw that broke the very big, complicated camels back

Is Mick’s show too footy heavy to strip at 3pm? Otherwise it’s probably just an NRL version of Rush Hour again for NSW and QLD 4-6 and local back at 3?
I’d say that’s what they’ll do for the rest of the year.
Triple M Breakfast from late last year with Rosie, Will and Daisy would’ve been perfect but Rosie is now part of Mick’s show in the morning and Daisy is currently doing the Rush Hour will Billy until James returns from leave (not sure if he’s already back). I really enjoyed listening to them.

Not for NSW and QLD sorry. That’s the gap here. Never mind the 3pm national hour that Marty had. It’s the 4pm - 6pm shift in the northern states that is now in need of replacement.

Wade on Melbourne radio wars having a crack, a week after he was seemingly pulled from the pod for spreading a rumour Kyle was faking his medical issues was a bit much.
Craig Bruce, who I don’t always like or agree with, was fairly balanced and nuanced.

That wasnt my impression at all by listening last week. Not only do I think it was on all three of them equally for letting those comments make the cut to stay on the podcast. Its also not the first time Wade has missed an ep
