Production values far cheaper than the 3MMM TVC version.
Notice 2MMM has recently introduced A No Repeat Workday. Good move I think, opens up the playlist more.
Would be even better if the “No Repeat” philosophy extended to artists so you weren’t still hearing eg AC/DC 3 times during the workday.
A radio station shouldn’t have to boast about this. It’s like a bus company promoting that they stop at every stop on a route by request, you’d bloody hope they did.
But does that mean that 2MMM was repeating songs between 9am-3/4pm?
Well the real rarity here is the ‘no repeat workday’ without the gimmick promo of “if you catch us repeating you can be caller 105 and win a CD worth $20!!!”
If a radio station wants to prove they are the home of “more music variety” they should forget the No Repeat Workday. I mean big deal - no repeats for eight hours - it’s barely an achievement.
Try out a No Repeat Weekday, like a No Repeat Monday - as in for 24 hours.
Or No Repeat Week.
It would never happen. It’s a dare.
The logistics of this especially with networked shows would be difficult.
And you almost don’t want them to even try this as to get close to even achieving this they would have to program the metro and regional logs centrally and coordinate the log with Home Grown and Dave Gleeson’s Nights show.
At least the metro work day including Rush Hour and the local music that’s inserted into Marty Sheargold’s 3pm highlights enables the metros to avoid repeating a song.
Regionals clearly aren’t bothering as there would easily be repeats in the morning/afternoon regional log that might occur in the networked Rush Hour.
Not sure about other markets but the no repeat workday is being run a bit differently in Adelaide… as in it’s being done intentionally, and rather than an instant $50k win, whoever calls in first goes into the draw to win $50k.
Looks to be that same tactic around the country - incl. regionals (excl. Triple M Perth).
The only real winner IMO are the regionals who’d love a No Repeat Workday and the chance to win $50k.
They already had one
Triple M has given their Sydney/Melbourne Dead Set Legends Lineups a shakeup
In Sydney, they’ve elected not to replace Candice Warner but rather choosing to keep the third spot as a rotating host, joining Brendan Annakin and Richard Freedman.
Meanwhile, it’s a new trio in Melbourne - Sarah Olle, Will Raulston & Ryan Warren
Good young team for Melbourne - big fan of Will in Marty’s show
The Melbourne overhaul was probably brought upon by Kath moving to Perth.
Will and Ryan (better known as Rabs) are busy then. I believe Will produces the Saturday Rub too along with breakfast with Marty Sheargold.
Rabs might also do some Triple M footy producing? Not sure. I know he was producing Triple M Cricket over summer.
Yes, last season Rabs produced the Sunday Rub (not sure if he’s still doing it this season), and anchoring The Rush Hour each weekday + anchoring the Midweek Rub.
Herald Sun reports Marty Sheargold has been called out for making an anti-Semitic remark on his breakfast show yesterday, during a discussion with Loren Barry and Troy Ellis about how Easter and Passover cross over this year.
Barry said: “Easter can occur on any Sunday between March 22 and April 25. Easter’s exact date varies so much because it actually depends on the moon.
“Early Christians wanted Easter to coincide with Passover because Christ’s death and resurrection happened after the Jewish holiday. Because the Jewish calendar is tied to solar and lunar cycles the dates of Passover and Easter fluctuate each year.”
After a laugh over Barry’s pronounciation of fluctuate, Sheargold said: “And, of course, I should have known it would rely on what the Jewish people wanted.”
The conversation can be heard at the 1 hour 33 minute mark of the podcast.
Would the target audience have been paying attention beyond the first sentence? Explanation seems far too highbrow for MMM.
Agree, Marty’s remark wasn’t good at the best of times, especially not now.
Just after 7:15pm on Triple M Nights with Dave Gleeson this evening, Triple M played the brand new song by Bon Jovi, titled “Legendary”. It’s their first new song since at least 2020, when they dropped “Limitless” just before the COVID-19 pandemic was declared.
Already played by Luke Bona Nightshift as soon as embargo ended at 2am last week.
A dud of a song, probably only played for the second time when you heard it. Nightshift audience didn’t like it.
All that hype and it delivers very little.
