it’s there if you go searching for it, but radio sadly doesn’t play much of it anymore
it’s all doof doof, rap, disposable pop (some of which isn’t too bad) and RNB now for new music on radio.

Which song made No.1 for GOAT Countdown in metros? And which made No.1 for regionals?

Let me guess
 Queen?

Not sure who was No 1 but I caught Fleetwood Mac at No 2 and I was kinda impressed by that actually.

AC/DC’s “Back In Black” album was # 1 on both the metros and regionals

God give me strength. Triple M really is time warped.

Have heard jelly roll played. Love it. MMM Country give it a good spin

Sorry, I was asking who was the No.1 for GOAT 2023
 not 1997.

Oh wait. The M’s music format hasn’t really evolved since then.

You’re all saying Back in Black is not one of the greatest albums of all time? Really?

In the top 3 albums of all time.

Remember this wasn’t a song countdown - it was an albums countdown.

Michael Jackson’s Thriller was at number two in the countdown.

Dark Side Of The Moon is better than both albums.

Oh silly me, I must go and dig up a pin stripe jumper and a pair of Westco jeans. Now where did I put my packet of Viscount Specials? Make no mistake, the network is time warped and a fish rots from the top. It is nothing short of a classic rock station, albeit not a very good one. Until Triple M fully positions itself as to what it is, it will remain stagnant.

I tend to agree it needs to pick a lane. Either contemporize but still retain some timeless rock songs (e.g. Virgin or Absolute UK), OR become a better rock/classic rock station (e.g. Rebel FM). Or I guess a third option is to be a US-style Classic Hits station, as they tend towards rock. But in its current form it’s pretty stale. Throw in all the sport and talk and it’s not very appealing.

How many different ways can Triple M reinvigorate their usual suspects of AC/DC, Barnsey, U2 and Midnight Oil before the audience starts going insane?

The Marty Sheargold show was back live today. Lehmo filled in for Marty.

Thought Lehmo did a good job in the parts I heard this morning. Chemistry between the team seemed pretty good. Although I’m sure that having quite a bit of experience in breakfast radio and also working with Troy at Gold would help things.

Edit: Heard it mentioned during one of the day shifts that Lehmo is filling in all week.

According to the Herald Sun, Marty Sheargold is on leave due to an incident at the AFL Grand Final that has led to complaints about his behaviour. The Herald Sun’s Source column reported last week that a high-profile Melbourne radio host was punted from the Grand Final:

Several complainants filed grievances about the radio star’s behaviour, whose crude remarks and language was spicier than the fire and flames of pre-game entertainers Kiss, and his demeanour sloppier than Jarrod Berry, who gave away two 50-metre penalties on the big day.

In Sheargold’s absence, 3MMM had Mick Molloy dial in with a ‘new’ segment, What the F, in reality a cut and paste from his 2MMM show. Very low rent.

Not surprising.
