Triple M Network

I’m talking about his Melbourne breakfast show.

Ah OK, I assumed if he wasn’t doing breakfast, his 3pm show wouldn’t be on either?

They don’t even have a best of going?

Im overseas so I only get the podcast. But nothing on the feed, usually there’s something.

Edit: just looked at their instagram and someone commented they’ve taken the week off due to Marty having personal leave. Hope all is ok.

U2’s new song “Atomic City” (which was released on September 29) received its first airplay (to my knowledge) on radio in Australia this evening, during Nights with Dave Gleeson at 7:30pm Sydney/Melbourne time (note - screenshot is from Brisbane which is one hour behind).

Has been in rotation on Triple M since last week. Good song though

Ahh ok. Hadn’t had the chance to listen to Triple M on evenings for a while.

But it’s always good to see some new U2 on the airwaves, it has been nearly 15 years since they’ve had an entry on the ARIA singles chart.

Agree one of their better songs, a U2 song is usually a station changer for me but I liked it.

Will get it on iTunes as a download soon (I like to get a “permanent” copy of a song even though I already subscribe to Spotify).

Yep I’m the same. Generation “own” rather than generation rent lol.

Fully agree here, I still buy music on physical formats where I can.

The GOAT album countdown finished around midday here, bit of a shame as I was kind of hoping they’d string it out a bit on a Friday, and even play the last one in full. It was great to hear some tracks that don’t get played so often on the airwaves, now it’s back to the same tried & tested playlist.

Triple M and new music often doesn’t belong in the same sentence!

U2’s “Atomic City” says otherwise.

Also heard it on some regional stations (including one in Ballarat) last night too.

I noticed the regional M’s had a different list to the metro M’s.
When I voted for my top album on the Triple M site, all I had to fill out was my name, top album and why it was my top album. How do they know if I was from the metro or regional listening area? :person_shrugging:t2:

They don’t care

But yes, they’ve done the same thing before with other countdowns too.

only in the case of U2, and Triple M only adds new music if they think they would play this song in five, ten, fifteen or twenty years time!

I bet they are still not playing Jelly Roll’s “Need A Favour” in the 30s or 40s… not a bad song at all, but not really ‘Classic Hits/Rock’ material.

they would have played it on Magic 693 in Melbourne in 1994!

Do you mean 2094?
