triple j

You may be right :eyes:; caught this on a newsletter this morning

Edit: :rotating_light::rotating_light::rotating_light: new logo updated on the website alongside other stations, Double J remains unchanged

Don’t mind the main logo but the spin-offs look… awful.

Some more modern idents/imaging on triple j today. A more dance-music sounding “triple J” sound at the start of some songs.

Any recordings please?

Not sure if there’s a better tool for sharing audio, but have a few here:

There are a few different versions depending on the song, have heard a guitar and electronic one too. Sounds like they’re being edited in as opposed to randomly playing like previous triple j stings.

Elsewhere same news theme. Lots of previous-style idents too. Seeing a new sounding station tagline too, “Your Favourite Acts & The Best New Music” on iHeart and TuneIn.

New Breakfast sting here:

Swing and a miss to do this but not update the news theme which sounds increasingly out of place (as much as I love it)

Agree. Double J doesn’t have News does it? An easy way to pass it on.

I understand why it’s nearly impossible to replace it without backlash on social media / inevitable News.com.au article, but the news theme doesn’t feel contemporary or match the station anymore.

Double J has never had a news bulletin, that is why I listen to it. I hope they don’t introduce news bulletins, triple j’s is too focused on federal/NSW politics and NRL.

The welcome to country was a little long! And the pronunciation of Australia could do with a little work.

It’s about the same length as ABC Sydney and Melbourne’s, and Darwin and Adelaide’s go for double the length of Triple J.

Sounds good, thanks for clipping them up. Glad they’ve had a spruce up.

There’s a welcome to country in the news theme??

At the start of each day’s programming - same happens on most capital city stations (ABC Sydney, etc).

Is it an “acknowledgement of country” or a “welcome to country”?

Acknowledgement of Country

It’s an acknowledgement if it’s done by someone who isn’t a local indigenous representative.

And it’s in the program intro, not the news theme.

Radio broadcaster triple j has unveiled a new brand identity with help from independent agency, Howatson+Company.

Revealed at music festival One Night Stand, the new identity leverages “a reactive design” brought about by a bespoke typeface developed to change according to musical and audio inputs. It uses machine learning functions to respond to different sounds and music.

Consequently, Howatson+Company and triple j were able to create “unique titles across … [the latter’s] content offering”.
