Tokyo Olympics Coverage

Not sure how there words hamish and talent go together.

Was just thinking this, theyā€™ve been using NEP and that big wall screen for AFL (when not able to go to a ground due to coronavirus - which is almost always atm, although were at the MCG studio on Saturday night the weekend just gone).

And as reported, Seven have a brand new set from overseas for Olympics.

Assuming commentary booths / production / offices are in BCM. So three facilities in the one city and all fairly close to each other. And TVB reported ā€œ7mate hubā€ is at Sevenā€™s Sydney studios (Eveleigh for available production space Iā€™d imagine rather than Martin Place?) Not just hosts, but as someone posted looks like a few commentators will be there too.

SBS in South Korea aired rehearsal footage in 2008

There was only about 30 seconds shown of the dress rehearsal during the report from Paul Marshall on Seven News Sydney (and no doubt Seven News everywhere across the country) on 14/9/2000, if thatā€™s what youā€™re referring to.

There is always a disclaimer at the start of every Olympic broadcast I can remember

Has there been any promotion to the wider audience that 7+ will have 40 something extra channels? I donā€™t think most people would realiseā€¦

Itā€™s also free and at no additional cost. OBS commentary on the 40+ streams. It was $19.95 to access premium for Rio and PyeongChang

Looks like Nigel was set to host as well

The 7mate channel set-up in Sydney must be so set-in-stone, that they canā€™t abandon these plans and shift to Melbourne and Iā€™m guessing that one of the reasons for Sydney was that thereā€™s no space left at the Melbourne facilities.

Wonder what talent Seven have in Sydney who could now host 7mate (obviously wonā€™t be the ā€˜starsā€™ - no offence to Zappone and Carmody).

They got Emma Freeman on mornings
Trent Copeland must be on Afternoons
Chris Stubbs is on prime time.

A snippet of an Opening Ceremony dress rehearsal is generally aired by rights holders to tease the event.

Iā€™ve seen promos focusing on the 7Plus streaming offering. Not sure though whether the breadth of what the app will offer has been properly communicated

Wow so seven actually have a set for the coverage!? Thatā€™s surprising, where has it been reported ?

EPGs have been updated, sessions on channels now include its specific event details and the hosts anchoring that shift.

(e.g.) 7Two, Melbourne, this Saturday:

Day 1 - Primetime Session

Primetime Session, hosted by Hamish McLachlan and Abbey Gelmi. Includes the menā€™s and womenā€™s swimming heats 400 m freestyle. This is the first chance of Aussie swim team to impress at Tokyo 2020.

NB/ This may not be the same channel or session in another market, but physically itā€™s the same broadcast.

(Source: eBroadcast).

Judging by the online guides mentioning Joh Griggs and Luke Darcyā€™s names, they will have a huge couple of weeks. They will be on air from 9:00am until 3:00pm, whereas all the other presenters are only hosting three hour shifts.

I assume thatā€™ll be split up and theyā€™ll come off air at say 1:30 and Matt and Eddy will come in. But again, Joh and Luke could do 6 hours a day.

Has it been clarified whether Johanna/Darce, Edwina/Matt, Hamish/Abbey will literally be hosting together, or whether theyā€™ll tag-team?

Only the late night Andy Maher/Lisa Sthlekar hosting (which was given a show name IIRC) sounded like a group situation.

So basically just a big screen. Thatā€™s not a set lol

Looks to be the same screen they are using elsewhere in the network with some mouldings around it,

Sevenā€™s head of Olympics Kurt Burnette was quoted on MW last week saying they have a brand new set flown in from overseas for Tokyo 2020. Linked the story here a couple of days ago when someone else asked.
