If your watching that many things are you really watching any? It’s one thing keeping an eye on one event when watching another but having multiple things going at once probably means you’re not truly invested in any of them.
Edwina Bartholomew commented on it the other day.
Some thoughts on the Australian based production. I initially assumed all Melbourne based production was out of Docklands Studios Melbourne but some on here have mentioned BCM (Seven Melbourne’s Docklands facility at Marvel Stadium). I think we ruled at NEP South Melbourne as that is probably being used for AFL production still.
I’m guessing the large set they are using is at Docklands Studios Melbourne (https://www.dsmelbourne.com) as there is no room for that at BCM surely? But are there commentators based at BCM? I guess it’s only a short distance within Docklands to travel between the two locations if they have to but I would have thought most commentary would also be co-located with the set at Docklands Studios.
Some commentators are in Sydney (like Richard Fox). Also we know that Edwina Bartholomew and Matt Shirvington are all based in Sydney. Do we know if they are coming from Martin Place or Eveleigh?
I think some commentary are done at Gravity Media production company. Its main office is at Port Melbourne but I am not sure if it rents a space at Docklands as well.
By local music do they mean Japanese music?
Gravity Media actually have a presence at Docklands Studios Melbourne so I would think that is where they are and not Port Melbourne: https://www.gravitymedia.com/our-facilities/facilities/australian-facilities/the-production-centre-melbourne/
Yes because Basil, Thorpe, Jones, Manou, etc have jumped into the studio to chat with the hosts, very soon after or encore a call.
Not sure whether this has been confirmed already. However, it was revealed in The Australian yesterday that Seven are using fake crowd noise for some sports. For example, it’ll be used a lot this week for the athletics events whereas it wasn’t used during the swimming last week because “…the echo of the cheers of teammates in the indoor arena was considered sufficient to generate atmosphere for viewers”
The use of the fake crowd noise has been noticeable to people (such as myself) who’ve watched a lot of the direct OBS coverage on 7Plus. On those streams, the only time you hear fake crowd noise is if it’s being pumped into the venue itself
I did notice comments on social media suggesting that sometimes the fake crowd was too loud compared to commentary.
Yeah it’s been happening on majority of their coverage for “big events”
Fake crowd noise is nothing new. It has been in use during the pandemic from at least May/June last year with the resumption of NRL and AFL. Even last weekend with a lot of AFL and NRL still being played to empty stadiums it has been in use.
I did wonder though if the crowd noise was being supplied by OBS or Seven. I didn’t think to check the 7+ streams! Good catch.
In news just in, MediaSpy Members have reviewed MediaSpy and this post was brought to you by MediaSpy.
Why couldn’t it come out of BSM…?
There is the secondary studio where general entertainment shows are produced.
I don’t see the issue with having the main channel has a heavily curated output (with all the fluffy bits interspersed), especially where they have such a broad offering on streaming (and a second channel showing stuff).
It would be nice if they werent as fast and loose with the “Live” watermark
Exactly, the Seven and mate channels have to curate their content to deliver the more popular content that will maximise viewership.
What’s the floor space there? What general entertainment shows?
