Just since the merger or going back further than that?
Top End Wedding is happening on Monday.
Just tacky and rubbish.
Hey, Katie Couricâs colonoscopy was a huge ratings hit for the US Today show back in 2000.
Thatâs a way to achieve ratings.
LOVE IS IN THE AIR ON TODAYâS TOP END WEDDING
MONDAY 6 MAY
A nationwide search by TODAY that saw 13,000 people apply to have an all-expense-paid dream wedding and honeymoon in the Northern Territory will occur this Monday, May 6 in a spectacular live television event.
Teaming up with Tourism NT, TODAY will screen the wedding of Victorian couple Steve Wadey and Lauren Marsh during Mondayâs show live from Darwinâs iconic Pee Weeâs at the Point.
Steve and Lauren, from East Gippsland, won the ultimate wedding package, worth $75,000, in one of the most alluring and magical places in the world. In just six weeks, every detail has been looked after, with the prize including flights and accommodation for the lucky couple, and 40 of their closest friends and family.
With TODAY Extra and Weekend TODAY co-host David Campbell as wedding singer, and Nineâs Entertainment Editor Richard Wilkins helping the celebrant officiate the ceremony, TODAY hosts Georgie Gardner and Deb Knight, News Presenter Tom Steinfort and Entertainment Reporter Brooke Boney will also join the festivities.
The prize includes a wedding planner, celebrant, photographer, cars, florist, hair and make-up artists, the dress and the ring. And then thereâs the entire reception including the cake and catering â and for those who canât make the wedding, it will all be broadcast live on TODAY.
TODAY has a long tradition of hosting âMarry in the Morningâ competitions that stretch back to 2003 when Tracy Grimshaw and Steve Liebmann were hosting the program. Locations for previous TODAY weddings include Hayman Island and Sydneyâs Botanical Gardens.
Georgie Gardner says: âWe love love on the Today show, and you couldnât find a more beautiful couple than Steve and Lauren. Tune in as we bring you a dream wedding from a dream location.â
Deb Knight says: âThey are such a wonderful couple who have an amazing family and we are just so thrilled to share the love with them in Darwin, one of my favourite cities.â
True, but that was for charity (she lost her husband to colon cancer in â98).
Queensland reporter Jessica Millward will be off for the next six weeks and will not be due back until June 17 (she is going on holidays, presumably with her husband Joel Dry).
Does anyone know when Aislin Kriukelis is due back from her maternity leave? I think July.
This may mean one of the Nine News Queensland reporters will need to step up in both Millward and Kriukelisâ absence for the next month or so. We saw Tim Arvier do some reporting for Today earlier this year - but question is - is he up for the early starts?
I will be interesting to see if Aislin returns to Today. Remember that her last apperance, before maternity leave, was on the Afternoon News. She hasnât been reporting on Today for about a year now.
I hope not. They have Sophie Upcroft up there at the moment. It would be nice if they used Lauren Ellis, though, instead.
While I donât know a lot about what happens up in Brisbane, that was because she was filling in for Alison Ariotti who was on maternity leave at the time.
Wasnât Sophie Upcroft once a reporter in Sydney as well? Iâve heard of the name before (though I rarely ever watch Today these days).
Sophie started as a producer in 2014 in Sydney then reporting /senior producer from 2016.
She will probably remain in Brisbane while Jess is away, last year she reported for both Sydney and Brisbane when needed.
Allison Langdon is back from maternity leave this weekend.
And with that, credibility returns to the weekend edition.
Jayne reading news and sport this morning.
The rundown for Today hasnât been good this weekend. Yesterday, Allison and David did two live crosses to Alex Heinke (about Facebook blocking the safety ads) within a span of 30 mins (that is excluding the story being mentioned in the news bulletins). Between the 7-8 hour, they covered that story 4 times- not to mention that it was probably a topic for Whatâs Making News.
Today, the two stories at 7.15 were a bore- one about Ancient Rome and another about Gen Z internet language (VO was international). Both segments are better suited to after 8.30.
Canât they give Richard a hairstyle that doesnât look like it just rolled out of a 1980s bed?
